JOHN McCLAIN’S NFL POWER RANKINGS
WEEK 6
1. Kansas City 5-0 (1): The NFL’s only undefeated team has been successful against a difficult schedule. Next up is a home game against Pittsburgh.
2. Green Bay 4-1 (2): If Aaron Rodgers continues to pull off miraculous victories like the one at Dallas, the Packers are capable of beating any team.
3. Philadelphia 4-1 (3): One of the NFL’s most surprising teams has a Thursday night game at Carolina. The Eagles’ only loss was at Kansas City.
4. Carolina 4-1 (10): The Panthers have won back-to-back road games against New England and Detroit.
5. Denver 3-1 (5): The Broncos are coming off their off week. Considering they host the winless Giants, it’s like they’ve got another off week.
6. New England 3-2 (12): The Patriots are undefeated on the road. They’re playing at the Jets and trying to win to stay in first place in the AFC East.
7. Atlanta 3-1 (7): Despite their record, the Falcons haven’t played like the defending NFC champions.
8. Seattle 3-2 (19): The Seahawks’ defense is coming off a crushing performance in a road victory over the Rams that left them in a tie for first place.
9. Detroit 3-2 (4): Both of the Lions’ defeats have been at Ford Field. They might be fortunate to play on the road against New Orleans.
10. Jacksonville 3-2 (21): The Jaguars have won three games by 20 or more points. They have a one-game lead in the AFC South..
11. Baltimore 3-2 (24): Right when just about everyone was ready to write off the Ravens, they win at Oakland. Now they play the Bears.
12. Pittsburgh 3-2 (6): The Steelers have lost to Chicago. They were blown out by Jacksonville. Their struggles should continue at Kansas City.
13. L.A. Rams 3-2 (8): The Rams returned to earth with their six-point loss at home to Seattle. They’ll try to rebound with a trip to Jacksonville.
14. Buffalo 3-2 (9): After losing at Cincinnati, the Bills go into their off week in a three-way tie with the Patriots and Jets in the AFC East.
15. Minnesota 3-2 (18): Case Keenum replaced the injured and ineffective Sam Bradford to rally the Vikings to a Monday night victory at Chicago.
16. Washington 2-2 (11): Washington comes off its off week. Its losses are to the Eagles and Chiefs, who are a combined 9-1.
17. Dallas 2-3 (14): Jerry Jones’ team gets a much-needed off week after suffering back-toback home losses against the Rams and Packers.
18. Houston 2-3 (15): Without J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus for the rest of the season, the Texans will go as far as Deshaun Watson can take them..
19. New Orleans 2-2 (16): The Saints were on a roll entering their off week. They take a two-game winning streak into Sunday’s game against Detroit.
20. Tampa Bay 2-2 (17): The Bucs suffered a tough Thursday night loss at home to New England. They’ll try to bounce back Arizona.
22. Oakland 2-3 (13): The Raiders need Derek Carr back desperately. They are one game out of last place in the AFC West.
23. Cincinnati 2-3 (25): The Bengals have overcome their awful start by posting two wins. They enter the off week after beating Buffalo.
24. L.A. Chargers 1-4 (28): After suffering some close defeats, the Chargers got their first victory on the road against the Giants.
25. Miami 2-2 (30): The Dolphins’ offense has been pathetic with Jay Cutler at QB. Improvement isn’t likely with the next game at Atlanta.
26. Tennessee 2-3 (20): The Titans are coming off back-to-back losses to the Texans and Dolphins. They need Marcus Mariota back against the Colts.
27. Indianapolis 2-3 (31): The Colts are fortunate to play in the AFC South, where they are in a three-way tie for last place behind Jacksonville.
28. Arizona 2-3 (23): The Cardinals were obliterated at Philadelphia. That’s not a good sign entering the Tampa Bay game.
29. Chicago 1-4 (26): The worst team in the NFC North lost a close game at home to Minnesota. Rookie Mitch Trubisky makes his second start at Baltimore.
30. N.Y. Giants 0-5 (27): The Giants’ embarrassing ineptness is going national with a Sunday night game at Denver.
31. San Francisco 0-5 (29): The hard-luck 49ers travel to Washington after losing their last four games by three, two, three and three points.
32. Cleveland 0-5 (32): The Browns visit NRG Stadium with a 1-20 record over the last two seasons. They are 4-33 over the last three seasons.
