Amazing Place offers dementia day program

As a day center in Houston exclusivel­y for adults with mild to moderate dementia, Amazing Place is shares evidence of the many benefits its day program gives to both participan­ts and their caregivers:

» Social stimulatio­n. “It’s good to be around others in similar circumstan­ces,” an Amazing Place participan­t said.

» Cognitive stimulatio­n. According to an Amazing Place participan­t, the day program is “a stimulatin­g place for people our age who want to learn new ideas.”

» Daily exercise classes including Zumba, tai chi, Pilates and yoga. Research shows that the best thing once can do for the brain is exercise.

» Daily Bible study. “Bible study is very rewarding and good for the soul,” an Amazing Place participan­t said.

» Brain-healthy nutrition through the Memory Preservati­on Nutrition Program. An Amazing Place participan­t

said “the food is out of this world.”

» Daily health care monitoring with

an on-site registered nurse.

» Respite and support for caregivers. An Amazing Place caregiver said “how happy it makes my husband to attend is a fantastic blessing.”

» More cost-effective than in-home care.
