Miss Holly Collier Blalock Weds Mr. Griffin Robert Guthneck

Miss Holly Collier Blalock and Mr. Griffin Robert Guthneck were united in marriage on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at seven o’clock in the evening at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Dr. Linda Christians and Dr. Jim Jackson. A reception immediately followed at Houston Country Club with music provided by Big Swing and the Ballroom Blasters of Georgia and Bag of Donuts of Louisiana. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Dunlavy.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Geer Blalock III of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Myron Geer Blalock, Jr. of Houston, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Granville Mitchell Deane, Jr. of Houston, Texas.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Theodore Guthneck of Dallas, Texas. He is the grandson of Mrs. Barbara Tait Guthneck and the late Mr. Robert Leo Guthneck of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Mary Frances Cannon Taylor and the late Dr. Elbert Daniel Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an Oscar de la Renta couture gown. The silk white overlay gown featured a sweetheart neckline with a fitted bodice and was embellished with beaded embroidery. The soft trumpet skirt fell into a circular chapel train. To complement the gown, the bride wore an illusion long cathedral veil with embroidery. She carried a beautifully composed bouquet of heiboris, gardenia, garden roses and freesia accented with her great grandmother’s heirloom linen handkerchief.

Elise Lyons Mossy served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Molly Catlett Bell, Elizabeth Farmer Blalock, sister-in-law of the bride, Audrey Spalding Dunlap, Allison Miller Edgar, Molly Scott Ellerman, Blair Burke Foster, Maggie Tapp Giles, Greer Frances Guthneck, sister of the groom, Jenna Dyer Owen, Adele Marie Pitzer, Brittany Stephens Steitz, Shannon Marie Tehan, and Jennifer Leigh Williamson.

Honorary attendants included Amanda Spencer Fox, Rebecca Arnold Helms, Whitney Smith Laird, Courtland Crosswell McBroom, and Elizabeth Buck Suman. Winn Montgomery Blalock, niece of the bride, and Barbara Morgan Suman, served as flower girls.

Serving as the best men were Oliver Josef Barbier-Mueller and Douglas Weingarten Schnitzer, junior. Groomsmen included Grant Davis Ball, Myron Geer Blalock IV, brother of bride, Jeffrey Eloi Broussard, Richard Taylor Brown, Grant Taylor Guthneck, brother of the groom, Thomas Marshall Holmes, Nicholas James Johnson, Blake Tenille Liedtke, junior, Douglas Sterling McConn, Stephen Masterson Reckling, David Matthew Steitz, and David Brownell Wheless, junior.

Ushers included George Carter Dunlap III, Cody Richard Little, Ryan Christopher Mott, Jonathan Andrew Schnitzer, and Justin David Treat. Myron Geer Blalock V, nephew of the bride, Adam Williams Laird, Oliver William Suman, served as ring bearers.

Holly is a 2006 graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas and a 2010 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where she earned a degree in Marketing at the McCombs School of Business. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She is currently employed at Hines Securities, Inc. in Houston, Texas.

The groom is a 2006 graduate of the Episcopal School of Dallas in Dallas, Texas and a 2010 graduate of Texas Christian University where he earned a degree in Finance at the Neeley School of Business. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is currently employed at Jones Lang LaSalle in Houston, Texas.

Following a honeymoon in Fiji, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
