Joyce Adair Householde­r Joosten, known to friends and family as JJ, passed away peacefully, with her family around her, on Monday, August 17th, at the age of 85. She was born February 6, 1930 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Burton and Thelma Householde­r. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University and was a sorority member of Phi Mu. On September 24, 1950, she married Rigdon Eugene Joosten. After Rig completed graduate school, JJ and Rig moved to Webster Groves, Missouri, where they lived until 1968, when Rig’s job with NASA brought them to the Clear Lake. JJ worked as a successful real estate agent in the Clear Lake area until she retired in 1995. JJ was a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r. She was a longtime and active member of Clear Lake United Methodist Church, an avid traveler, and very active in the community. She will be greatly missed by her family, her neighbors and friends.

JJ was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rigdon E. Joosten. She is survived by her three children, Janan Joosten Skoronski of Clear Lake City, Daniel C. Joosten of Rosharon, and Todd S. Joosten of Beaumont, and her six grandchild­ren, Shana L. Skoronski, Christa G. Baradat, Jessica C. Joosten, Jennifer D. Joosten, Danielle A. Joosten, and Jacob M. Joosten.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made in JJ’s name to Clear Lake United Methodist Church, or to the charity of choice.
