Stephen Sheffer, a builder of custom homes and agent with Beth Wolff Realtors Real Living, recently had an exceptionally busy and rewarding weekend starting with one of those sun-up to sundown Fridays taking care of clients and customers. With business for the day wrapped up, he immediately headed over to the annual Woodlands FFA BarBQue to spend the entire night tending to his family’s secret brisket recipe.

On Saturday, the judges rewarded his all-nighter with a first place award for his succulent beef. Sheffer, whose 16-year-old son, Jackson, is a Woodlands FFA member, said he was pleased both with the results and the fact that Beth Wolff Realtors Real Living was a sponsor of the annual scholarship event. There was, unfortunately, no way to get him to share his recipe.

Beth Wolff Realtors Real Living was active the previous week in support of the Chevron Houston Marathon. Associate Cathi Lamberth ran the half marathon in support of the Houston Area Parkinson Society. After raising close to $3,000 for the organization, Lamberth ran a personal best time. Beth Wolff was there to cheer the runners on.

John Daugherty, Realtors’ Jan Greer and her husband Chilton attended the Bill Hobby Birthday Roast and Toast at River Oaks Country Club. The event celebrated Bill Hobby’s “prime” 83rd birthday and honored the Lieutenant Governor for his many years in public service. Although there was no “official” birthday cake, there was a huge gift. Due to the generosity of an underwriter, 100 percent of the proceeds benefited the University of Houston Hobby Center for Public Policy and the initiative for a new Hobby School of Public Policy. Greer said she enjoyed hearing from chairs Joe Jamail and Herb Kelleher. Senator Rodney Ellis also roasted Hobby.

Agents and staff of Bernstein Realty enjoyed a special video presentation prepared by Samantha Bacon, marketing director, highlighting the first three decades of the firm. Heartstrings were tugged and memories stirred by a final montage over The Carpenters’ “We’ve Only Just Begun” — confirming the company is indeed 30 years young.

Over in Fulshear, RE/MAX Grand Realty and Jimmy Franklin achieved the top spots as Firethorne’s 2014 top producing real estate office and top Realtor. The Katy/ Fulshear master-planned community wrapped up the year with an all-time high of new-home sales. The Joe Rothchild Team of Keller Williams Signature Realty and Charlie Russo of RE/MAX Westside tied for the No. 2 spot.

“Realtors have been a cornerstone to Firethorne’s steady growth, generating on average 85 percent of our new home sales per year,” said Wayne Meyer, Firethorne’s general manager. Nancy Furst, HAR chair, and Ed Wolff of Beth Wolff Realtors Real Living, appeared on NPR’s local “Houston Matters” radio show this week to share their perspective on the previous year and forecast for the next regarding residential and commercial real estate.
