-

Ellen (Fitzpatrick) Talmadge, 99, of Farmington, formerly of Bristol, and Chester, CT, widow of Charles Talmadge, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Hartford Hospital, after a brief illness. Ellen was born in Stafford Springs, CT, on October 7, 1924, one of six children of the late Francis J. and Agnes (Manion) Fitzpatrick. Ellen's family lived in several towns in CT, before they settled permanently in Bristol, during her teenage years. In 1948 she married Charlie Talmadge. Remaining in Bristol, Ellen and Charlie raised their three children together until Charlie's death in 1969. After Ellen's children all completed college, Ellen purchased a home in Chester, CT, and lived there for 27 years, before moving to Farmington in 2014. Ellen had several occupations in her professional career: secretary, office manager, publisher, executive director and finally, a realtor in her “retirement” years. She fondly remembered working as the office manager at the inauguration of St. Paul Catholic High School, as the “re-start” to her working years. Ellen is survived by her two sons: David Talmadge and his wife Betty, of Bristol; Richard Talmadge and his wife Paula, of Wilbraham, MA; and son-in-law, Glenn Sieber, of Naples, FL. Ellen is pre-deceased by her daughter, Barber Sieber, as well as her older brother Francis Fitzpatrick, and two sisters: Betty Collins and Lorraine Thompson. Ellen has two surviving sisters: Mary Breckbill, of Chester, CT and Kathryn Fitzpatrick of Deep River, CT. Ellen was forever proud of her seven grandchildren: Maura (Talmadge) Lancia, Michael Talmadge, Carolyn (Talmadge) Sebastian, Charlie Talmadge, Andrew Sieber, Jennifer (Sieber) Vazza and Kevin Sieber. She immensely enjoyed her nine great grandchildren. Ellen had a long-time affection for bridge, which she played with friends at Middlewoods, until her recent illness. Gardening, painting, and reading were among her favorite pastimes.
