Taber, Edward

-

Edward Martin Taber, born April 27, 1920 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of the late Sarah Poress and David Taber, passed away peacefully on October 27th at his home in Newington, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fran (nee Finn) in 1974 and his son, Ed “Junior” in 2005.

He found a loving companion in Carol March, whom he married in 1979 and preceded him in death in 2009. He leaves behind a daughter, Tina; three sons, Al, Larry, and Len; a step-son, Chuck, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ed was born in Providence, Rhode Island. He moved to Boston, where he joined the Army Air Corps during World War II. Ed had a life-long passion for the railroad, one of his first jobs. Ed loved to travel and visited many countries. He was fluent in several languages and would learn at least some of the language in each country he visited. He was an avid reader of all types of work. Ed was annoyingly good at gin rummy and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Gregarious and inviting, he was a friend to all who knew him.

Ed's family express their sincerest appreciation to the Veterans Administration and its staff who provided exceptional care over the past several years. We also extend our thanks to his kind and compassionate home

care providing team – Dolcia, Delva and Sonia – who enabled our dad to stay comfortably and safely in his home. Dad and Dolcia had a very special bond – she was like a daughter to him!

In lieu of flowers or cards, we ask that you consider

donating to the Veterans Administration to support their mission of serving veterans.

Services will be held at a later date, please contact the family or Rose Hill Funeral Home for information. For online condolences, memories or photo tributes, please visit www.rosehillfuneralhomect.com.
