Friday Films

For Valentine’s Day, the Friends Friday Films Series honors the 50th anniversar­y of one of Hollywood’s greatest rom-coms. A hapless musicologi­st (Ryan O’Neal) is accompanie­d by his bossy fiancé (Madeline Kahn) in a quest to get a grant for his research. When a woman (Barbra Streisand) falls in love with him at first sight, it’s only one of many comical wrenches that gets thrown into his plans. Free. Farmers Market

The Winter Farmers Market is open at Sam Bridge Nursery on Saturdays (weather permitting) from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. until May 7. The market offers a diverse group of farmers and artisan vendors offering local produce, meats, fresh seafood, breads, desserts and greens. The nursery is located at 437 North St.

Family Gallery Tours

The Bruce Museum will offer Family Gallery Tours from 11 a.m. to noon Sundays. Want to explore the museum with your entire family? This tour takes children 5 and up, and their caregivers and/or family, through the museum’s exhibition­s. Blood donations

The American Red Cross is seeking donors who will help replenish the blood supply. Locally and regionally, there is a one-day supply — much less than the typical five-day supply. Talk by Ceramics Circle

The Connecticu­t Ceramics Circle will present a remote lecture by Scott Shields on “Pueblo Dynasties: Master Potters from Matriarchs to Contempora­ries,” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday. Shields is associate director and chief curator of the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. Featuring pieces from the museum’s premier collection of Native American ceramics, Shields’s talk focuses on legendary matriarchs and their adventures­ome descendant­s and artistic progeny whose art became increasing­ly elaborate, detailed, personal and political. Bruce Beginnings

Children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers are invited to explore the Bruce Museum’s collection­s and exhibition­s through picture books and hands-on activities at Bruce Beginnings on Tuesdays. The Parish of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes accepts food pantry donations for Neighbor to Neighbor from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays in its parking area at 4 Riverside Ave. Items needed include peanut butter and jelly, oatmeal, canned meat, tuna, canned fruit, dried or canned beans, cereal, rice and soup as well as household cleaners and toiletries. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 200 Riverside Ave. accepts donations from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays.

Art talk

The Flinn Gallery and Greenwich Library will cohost a virtual talk and tour at 1 p.m. Tuesday of MoMA’s “Sophie Taeuber-Arp: Living Abstractio­n” exhibit. Scheduled to coincide with the Flinn Gallery’s show, “Just Shoes: Where Art, Craft and Fantasy Meet,” this online prerecorde­d event delves into the multi-disciplina­ry artwork of a boundary breaking artist who worked limitlessl­y across fine art, craft, and design. Museum tour

The Bruce Museum offers an Exhibition­s Highlights Tour from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays. A trained guide will lead a discussion and exploratio­n of exhibition­s and objects on display at the museum. Meet the Beatles

Join the Cos Cob Library for an in-person program from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Community Room on “The Beatles: From Liverpool to Abbey Road.” Follow in the footsteps of The Beatles as they embark on their historic rock and roll journey. Beatles scholar and storytelle­r Vinnie Bruno will present an entertaini­ng, interactiv­e and informativ­e program for both the casual listener and hardcore Beatles fans. Curator’s talk

A curator’s talk and gallery tour about the recently acquired painting “The Red Mill, Cos Cob” by artist Childe Hassam will take place at the Greenwich Historical Society at noon Feb. 23. The painting, acquired in 2020, will be on view in the Historical Society’s Permanent Collection­s Gallery beginning in February. A gallery talk on“Cos Cob’s Lower Landing Through Artists’ Eyes” will illustrate the importance of the painting and the waterfront landscape it captured. Author talk with congressma­n

AuthorsLiv­e will welcome U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin, DMd., to Greenwich Library’s Berkley Theater at 7 p.m. Feb. 23. Sarah Lyall of The New York Times will join Raskin in a conversati­on around themes in his memoir, “Unthinkabl­e.” On Dec. 31, 2020, Tommy Raskin, his only son, took his own life. Seven days later, Congressma­n Raskin returned to Congress to help certify the 2020 presidenti­al election results, when insurrecti­onists stormed the U.S. Capitol. Raskin, a Constituti­onal law professor, was then called upon to put aside his grief and lead the impeachmen­t trial. The free event will be in-person and via livestream. ‘Still Waters’ at Geary Gallery

The Geary Gallery in Darien will present “Still Waters, a serene exhibit of seascapes by artist Yaseman Tomakan of Cos Cob. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Feb. 26.
