Mendocino Rotary: The golf and weather were great

- By Mendocino Rotary Club

The Sun rose early on Saturday, October

18th, but not before the “worker bees” of the Mendocino Rotary Club. Members had to rise early to get prepared for the onslaught of 18 foursomes competing for prizes in the Mendocino Rotary Club’s 2001 Annual Golf Tournament at the Little River Golf Course. All the golfers had to register, buy extra mulligans, examine the prize table. The golfers could bid on over 20 donated prizes with many Gift Certificates donated by the Little River Inn. In addition, there was a 50/50 raffle where the winner shared the prizes with the Mendocino High School Interact Club.

While all this business was taking place the golfers could choose refreshments, which included spicy Bloody Mary’s or coffee with a sweet roll or a croissant.

After Tournament Chair Gary Hopper explained all the rules, the clock chimed its magic tone at 9 O’clock and the golfers teed off. Four plus hours later, the tired golfers, after consuming hot dogs, polish dogs, Sloppy Joe sandwiches, chips along with beer, wine, soda, and water wheeled their carts and bag rollers to the front of the clubhouse. There they found out who the better golfers were that day and who collected the silent raffle and 50/50 prizes.

The Tournament was a success for the golfers, the Mendocino Rotary Club, and for the nonprofits that the club supports. They were as follows in no specific order: Pete Rose, Chuck & Olivia Hastings, Pacific Ridge Adv., Willie Pell Construction, Meadow Wood Air BnB, Mendocino Hardware, Harvest Markets, Mendo Sothebys, Sport Chrysler Jeep, Mike Sandys Garden

Ranch Realty, Alarcon Insurance Agency, Sally Stewart & Cheri Osborne, Stickle & Hogan Law, Century 21 Paul Clark, Silvers at Wharf, Scott Roat Realtor, Mike Casey Construction, Edward Jones, Mendo Savings Bank, Sean Leland Ins., Jeff Stubbs, Helen & Roger Abramson, Ken Baumgartner, Pam Hudson Realty, Cathy & Jerry Karabensh, Johanna & Gary Hopper, E&B Auto Matson’s Hardware, Trillium Restaurant, Compass Rose American Craft, North Coast Brewery, Little River Golf

Club, Harold Hauck & Annie Liner, Sean & Kira Meade, and Mendocino Cafe.
