Annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser set for Tuesday
The El Dorado Lions Club will continue an El Dorado tradition Tuesday, by hosting an annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser at the El Dorado Lanes, 400 S. Bradley and Hillsboro. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. and bowling will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The event originated 21 years ago under the leadership of El Dorado’s SIGHT (Sight Impaired Group Help Team) program. The SIGHT organization partnered with the new El Dorado Lions Club, chartered just three years ago by Lions Club International, with the purpose of turning the event over to the club this year. Both organizations share a mission to help those that are visually impaired in the community.
To better understand the issues visually impaired individual’s face doing every day activities, bowlers participating in the fundraiser will be blindfolded. Lane assistants will place the bowlers in position and teams of up to six will complete an entire game during the evening. Prizes will be awarded to the highest scoring team, the highest scoring individual and the individual with the lowest score.
Proceeds from the event will be used to continue the mission of supporting visually impaired individuals in the community.
