EL DORADO — An El Dorado man arrested in connection with serious drug allegations was one of seven people making their first court appearance on Wednesday with 35th District Court Judge Jack Barker presiding.

Jamarkus Davis, 29, of El Dorado was arrested Tuesday and charged with possessing firearms and a large sum of cocaine and methamphetamine.

The El Dorado Drug Task Force oversaw Davis’ arrest, and few details are included in the police report. However, the amount of drugs and deliveries provided before the court gave enough evidence of alleged drug manufacturing, Prosecutor Greg Thomas said.

Davis is being charged with three counts of distribution of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a counterfeit substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver – cocaine, maintaining drug premise, possession of a firearm by a certain person, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft by receiving a firearm, and delivery of a controlled substance – other.

“He’s also been issued a parole violation,” Thomas said.

Barker looked over Davis’ file.

“He’s not going to make bond anyway,” he said. Davis is being held in lieu of a $250,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

TaCourtney A. Cage, 29, of El Dorado was arrested Tuesday and charged with drug possession and fleeing from officers.

According to the police report, an officer saw a maroon SUV with expired tags leave the Rainbow Food Mart, 2110 Junction City Road, at 3 a.m. Saturday. While the officer attempted to do a traffic stop near the intersection of Marable Hill Road and Lorene Street, the driver accelerated and took a left turn onto Marable Hill Road. The driver pulled into a driveway at the 300 block of Marable Hill Road, dropped off a passenger, and while backing out of the driveway hit a police car. Cage then fled from officers on foot. At the scene police found a prescription bottle containing four Hydrocodone pills and a partially consumed bottle of Hennessy inside the maroon SUV.

On Tuesday, officers found Cage at Goodcents. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance – Hydrocodone, along with the

following misdemeanors: fleeing, fleeing in a vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

He is being held in lieu of a $20,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

Christopher O. Nation, 24, of El Dorado, was arrested Monday for allegedly choking his girlfriend and throwing her to the ground outside of an apartment complex.

According to the police department, an officer contacted Nation at the Haygood Neal Apartments around 10:30 p.m. Monday. The victim told police she got into an argument with Nation. When Nation refused to discuss their problem in private, he “ran at the victim and slammed her to the ground while his hands were around her neck… completely restricting her airway,” according to the report.

At the scene, police reported seeing a large amount of dirt on the back of her shirt, a small cut on the right side of her neck, and redness on her right elbow.

Nation was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a household member.

He is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash or corporate surety bond.

If released, people facing felonies are bound to circuit court for further proceedings, are confined to a curfew, have no-contact restraints, and are restricted from possession of non-prescription drugs, alcohol, or firearms while the case is active.

The second part of Wednesday’s first appearances will be published tomorrow.
