Terminated WDIV-TV host launches new Facebook show
“I missed you guys,” said Jason Carr on Wednesday morning during the debut of “Jason Carr Drive,” his new Facebook show that he described as “completely self-sufficient.”
Said Carr, “I’m your host. I’m your producer. I’m your carpenter. I’m your artist. I’m your writer. I’m your useless fount of information, or fount of useless and trivial information.”
It was a return to talking to Detroit viewers for the former co-host of WDIV-TV Local 4’s “Live in the D” morning show. Carr was terminated from station after the Dec. 6 airing of “Jason Carr Live” on Local 4+, WDIV’s streaming channel.

Free Press showed that he criticized an unnamed former colleague and described the person as “one of the worst human beings I feel like I’ve ever met in my life.”
At the time, the station confirmed that Carr had been dismissed without offering any elaboration. A message on the “Live in the D” Facebook page noted that the station doesn’t comment on personnel issues, adding, “As it relates to Jason, last week he and the station parted ways. Jason’s impact at WDIV was substantial and we wish him great success and happiness in the future.”
The first episode of Carr’s streaming show, recorded from his home, was interrupted by a technical glitch and then restarted.
During the roughly 30-minute stream, he thanked his presenting sponsor, Ven Johnson Law, for getting him back on the air, along with other sponsors. He kept the show light and upbeat, reading messages from those watching and talking about his family’s dogs, among other topics.
Carr indicated he’ll be doing the show live around 9 a.m. weekdays, but that he is still in the process of fine-tuning the format.
Early on, he mentioned that it had been almost three months since he had spoken “to you good people.” Said Carr, “Thank you so much for sticking with me, for all the positive comments and all the well wishes.”
Carr was with Local 4 from 2016 to 2022 and previously worked at Fox 2 (WJBK-TV). A Michigan State University alum, he is married to Fox 2 Detroit anchor Taryn Asher.
