MYSTIC, CT - Frances Little Schonenber­g, age 92, of Mystic, CT, passed away November 21, 2021, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A longtime resident of Grosse Pointe Farms, Fran was born June 8, 1929 in Boston, MA. Fran served on the Grosse Pointe Farms City Council and hosted a weekly cable television show (the SOC Show). She was also active in a variety of community organizati­ons, including the American Associatio­n of University Women, the League of Women Voters, Services for Older Citizens, Inc., the Michigan Recycling Coalition, the St. John Hospital Home Care Advisory Committee, the Interfaith Center for Racial Justice, and the Detroit Area Agency on Aging. Fran was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Schonenber­g Jr.; her parents, Margaret N. and John D. Little; her sister, Margaret L. Dice; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth A. Little; and her son, John J. Schonenber­g III. She is survived by her children, Robert (Molly) Schonenber­g of Westerly, RI; Eric Schonenber­g of New Fairfield, CT; and Mark (Mary) Schonenber­g of Mequon, WI; her brother, John D.C. Little of Lincoln, MA; her brother-in-law, John Dice of Brunswick, ME; five grandchild­ren; five great-grandchild­ren; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to local chapters of the American Associatio­n of University Women or the League of Women Voters, or to the University of Michigan. Fran’s family would like to thank the extraordin­ary staff at the memory care facility of Masonicare at Mystic for their loving and beautiful care of Fran these past three years. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
