Son of Swami predicts winners of Week 4’s biggest games

- Son of Swami

So, the Son of Swami was sitting at a red light waiting for the light to change Monday morning when he heard a loud crash. Worse yet, he felt it.

It seems someone thought it was a good idea to try to create a new lane between SOS’s 1958 Edsel (Google it) and the car to SOS’s right.

Evidently, while in the process of ripping through the right side of SOS’s car, one of the driver’s wheels collapsed and the guy’s car slid through the intersection and crashed into another car, sending that one into a utility pole.

The police and two ambulances arrived and SOS did experience neck, jaw and back pain, not to mention a killer headache.

The EMTs on hand said clearly the injuries SOS suffered would have killed a lesser man.

Seeking second and third opinions, SOS called his favorite doctor, Daughter of SOS, MD, who issued the following statement: “I’m a pediatrician. I don’t do old people’s medicine.”

SOS then turned to Mrs. SOS, a nurse, who said: “Leave me alone. I’m on vacation.”

The worst part is, there was extensive damage to SOS’s car, which was towed to a body shop, meaning SOS is stuck driving Mrs. SOS’s car, which isn’t big enough and the sound system stinks.

Boss of SOS came up with an ingenious plan to have SOS pull a Fred Sanford — get a neck brace, look for a whiplash doctor who may or may not be licensed in Michigan and begin taking French lessons for when SOS collects a large settlement and heads to the south of France, if he ever gets out of concussion protocol.

Until then, SOS is here with this week’s top games, not to mention a killer headache.

Predictions

Traverse City Central (2-1) vs. Traverse City West (3-0) at Thirlby Field, 7, Friday.

The annual Patriot game between these seems should be even more intense this season. West has lost the last two games to Central by a total of 72 points. West has good balance in the backfield with Michael Schermerhorn and Aiden Kamp sharing the ball carrying duties while Brandon Konchek can run and pass. Central’s lone loss came in Week 1 to DeWitt, 47-27. But QB/LB Josh Burnham, who has committed to Notre Dame, has led the Trojans to a pair of lopsided victories since them. Suzy Merchant High 30, Traverse City’s Best 27.

Davison (1-2) at Grand Blanc (3-0) at 7, on Friday. SOS doesn’t want to give you the wrong impression about this rivalry game. There are teams that are rivals on paper and then there are rivalries that are blood rivalries. This is one of the latter. These guys hate each other and it hasn’t helped that Davison has dominated this one, winning the last five meetings by scoring at least 41 points and never allowing more than 21. Quarterback Hunter Ames has been particularly good for Grand Blanc while Davison DB Zack Pappadakis has knack for knowing where the ball is being thrown. Grand Blanc may have the secret weapon in kicker/punter Dylan Hertzberg. Blankety Blank 42, Davidson Freeway 34.

Southfield A&T (2-1) at Clarkston (3-0), 7, Friday. A&T has bounced back nicely after its opening game disaster against Detroit Cass Tech. Sophomore quarterback Isaiah Marshall has shown improvement from a year ago, but playing against the Clarkston defense could be a different ball game. Clarkston’s defense, featuring Mekhi Battle and Cole Dellinger on the line, has been good all season. The offense has dangerous QB Mike DiPillo, who has a nice touch on the ball, andemerging running back Ethan Clark, who is literally running away from the defenses, based on his 248-yard performance last week. Last Train to Clarksville 29, AT&T 18.

Warren De La Salle (2-0) vs. Birmingham Brother Rice (3-0) at Lawrence Tech, 7, Friday. De La Salle had a bye last week when it wasn’t permitted to play Cincinnati Dohn, which is not a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Quarterback Brady Drogosh was impressive in Week 2 when the Pilots disposed of River Rouge. After dumping Macomb Dakota, 35-21, in the opener, Rice hasn’t allowed a point. The Warriors have quite the passing attack with QB Hunter Polonkey firing away to Xavier Bowman, Nolan Ray and Cole Lacanaria. De La Slappy 24, Shrimp Fried Rice 21.

Michigan Center (3-0) at Addison (3-0), 7, Friday. We’re not looking at the second coming of the 1973 Saginaw Arthur Hill defense (443-0) in Michigan Center. But the Cardinals still haven’t yielded a point this season and their defense has been terrific. That should change this week when Addison brings its smash-mouth brand of football, daring you to put 11 guys in the box in order to stop its Power T football, which hasn’t been stopped yet. By the way, good luck finding the ball. David Addison 20, Center of Michigan 17.
