Gotsch Fills Requirement for Candidacy
After receiving over 7,000 signatures from across Indiana’s third district, Nathan Gotsch is officially an independent candidate for Congress. The state law requires any third party candidate to obtain an amount of signatures equal to two percent of the total votes cast in the most recent Indiana Secretary of State election. This year, that number was calculated to be 4,598. Gotsch received 7,001 validated signatures from 11 counties across the 3rd district, including some from Adams County.
“Those numbers tell me that the people of Northeast Indiana are ready to move beyond partisan politics,” said Gotsch. “I am incredibly grateful to our amazing tea of signature-gatherers and the thousands of Northeast Indiana voters who want another choice this November and were willing to sign their name to it.” Currently, every elected member of the Indiana General Assembly is attached to a political party, the majority belonging to the republican party.
Gotsch grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School. From there, he went to the University of Southern California to study film making. Following his time studying at USC, he then began working in the entertainment industry. Ironically, one of his specialties was making political satire. In 2014, he returned home and began teaching film and video classes at his alma mater. Recently, he started an organization focused on combating COVID-19 in northeast Indiana.
In November, Gotsch will take on Democratic Party nominee Gary Snyder, and Republican Party nominee, and incumbent state legislature Jim Banks. Gotsch’s official campaign will launch this week. For more information on Gotsch, you can visit nathanforus.com
