- By Mark Fisher Staff Writer

The new business will employ about 32, and the restaurant has an alcohol license and will serve beer and wine, El Rancho Grande President of Operations Gary Rodriguez said.

A new and large-scale Hispanic supermarket affiliated with the El Rancho Grande Mexican restaurant chain is gearing up to open in Riverside.

La Guadalupana Super Market, coming to 5450 Burkhardt Road at Spinning Road in the Spin-Kemp Shopping Center, also will include a restaurant, according to Gary Rodriguez, president of operations for El Rancho Grande.

The 20,000-square-foot grocery store and restaurant are awaiting final approval from Montgomery County officials before stocking and gearing up to open, Rodriguez told this news outlet. The new business will employ about 32, he said.

The store’s restaurant has an alcohol license and will serve beer and wine, Rodriguez said.

The project has been in the works for nearly two years. It first applied for a license to serve alcohol in January 2017.

The space previously housed a Salvation Army Thrift store.

The Spin-Kemp Shopping Center includes Oddbody’s Music Room, Family Dollar and a handful of smaller businesses.

El Rancho Grande operates seven Dayton-area restaurants and is affiliated with the new Rancheros Cocina Mexicana that opened last month in the Cross Pointe Centre in Centerville. Contact this reporter at 937-2257355 or email Mark.Fisher@coxinc. com.
