Woman charged in deadly crash

A 20-year-old woman is charged in connection with a car crash that caused a Jeep to spin out of control and kill a man in a wheelchair who was on the side of the road waiting to cross the street.

Victoria Williams of Cleveland is charged with vehicular homicide, a first-degree misdemeano­r. The charge was filed on Tuesday and an arraignmen­t date has not yet been set.

Glen Sage, 59, died in the crash that happened May 14. Sage was stopped at a red light waiting to cross the street, police said.

Williams stopped her 2008 Ford Focus at the red light facing the opposite direction while she waited to turn left onto Walton, police reports say. She turned left and crashed into the side of the Jeep, police reports say. The Jeep spun counterclo­ckwise and struck Sage.

Williams told police at the scene she waited until the light turned red before she turned, police reports say. She said she never saw the Jeep, police reports say. a suspect in the stabbing, which happened shortly before 6 a.m., police said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, died after being taken to University Hospitals.
