A 17-year-old boy died days after someone shot him in the head several times and dumped his body on the side of the road.

Alexander Tripp of Cleveland died Feb. 11 after being on life support for five days at University Hospitals, according to police reports and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner.

A Cleveland police spokeswoman originally identified Tripp as a 30-year-old man.

The shooting happened sometime on Feb. 6, according to police reports. A witness reported to police about 11 a.m. that they saw someone dump a body on Sandusky Avenue near East 104th Street in the city’s Union-Miles neighborhood.

The witness said that he watched as an older model Buick stopped on the side of the road. He said he’s saw a man get out of the car, pull Tripp out of the backseat, drop him on the sidewalk and speed away, according to police reports.

Officers found Tripp unconscious and bleeding profusely from the gunshot wound to the left side of his face, police reports say.

He was taken to University Hospitals where he was placed on life support, according to police reports. A doctor told investigators they expected him to remain in the intensive care unit for an extended period of time.

He died five days later. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide from multiple gunshot wounds to the head. No arrests have been made in the case.
