Drug dealer boasts of ‘buck naked’ sales

A federally convicted drug dealer who spent more than a decade in prison got back into trafficking and faces new charges, according to a criminal complaint filed in Dayton’s U.S. District Court.

Corey Gay, 40, is charged with distribution and attempted distribution of more than 400 grams of fentanyl, which he called “buck naked” because of its purity when setting up a deal with a confidential informant, according to a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) criminal complaint.

Four confidential sources (CS) pointed to Gay as running a drug dealing operation, wrote DEA special agent Steve Lucas.

The sources told law enforcement Gay wasn’t living in the address he told his probation officer and that he lived on Savina Avenue in Englewood, that Gay bought a red Dodge Challenger Hellcat with drug proceeds and that Gay gets fentanyl from relatives in Arizona, according to the complaint.

The first CS indicated they would pay off a $199,000 debt and purchase a kilo of fentanyl for an additional $50,000, Lucas wrote.

The CS agreed to heat seal the money so a drug dog couldn’t detect it and Gay said he always heat sealed money and wore gloves when processing bulk cash, Lucas wrote.

The next day, Lucas wrote, Gay said he was ready for the deal and that when asked about the fentanyl’s quality, called it “buck naked,” or of high quality.

When Gay accepted the money, the DEA special agent wrote, he was arrested.

Neither Gay’s attorney nor the U.S. Attorney’s Office responded to messages seeking comment. MARK GOKAVI, STAFF
