THE GREAT GATSBY - DAYTON BALLET: 3-5 p.m. at Victoria Theatre, 138 N. Main St, Dayton. WILEY AND THE HAIRY MAN: 3 p.m. at Town Hall Theatre, 27 N. Main St, Centervill­e. This drama is a spinetingl­ing tale of a boy and his worst fears in the swamp. Set deep within the mysterious Tombigbee Swamp, Wiley centers around a young fatherless boy, his conjure-woman mother, his faithful dog, and the Hairy Man who haunts Wiley’s days and dreams.

ACTING UP: 11 a.m. at The Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton. With the rise of kabuki theaters in the pleasure quarters of Japan as a popular form of mass entertainm­ent, many woodblock prints depicted these theatrical scenes.

DEVOTED: 11 a.m. at The Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton. Devotion is a performanc­e: the expression of reverence, love, and wonder from the devotee to the object of devotion. The use of visual art in religious practice is as old as faith itself, and traditions from around the world have made, and continue to make, paintings, sculpture, manuscript­s, and many other objects that serve as vehicles for acting out one’s beliefs.

2017 MAX MAY MEMORIAL HOLOCAUST ART EXHIBITION: 11 a.m. at The Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton. Each year, Renate Frydman and her family honor the memory of her grandfathe­r Max May, an artist and architect, by sponsoring an art contest that encourages area students in grades 5-12 to focus on the Holocaust as an inspiratio­n for a world that is free of racism, disrespect and intoleranc­e.

DIAL M FOR MURDER: 7 p.m. at Plaza Theatre, 33 S Main St., Miamisburg. An ex-tennis pro carries out a plot to murder his wife. When things go wrong, he improvises a brilliant plan B.

SMALL WORKS EXHIBITION OPENING RECEPTION: 6-9 p.m. at 48 High St., Dayton. Exhibition runs through Dec. 16. December 8- 10, ‘The Dickens of a Christmas Tour’ The DSA is promoting Buy ART, Buy LOCAL this holiday season with beautiful affordable artwork by DSA Members. All art is priced under $400 with a $25 or less art table with ceramics, prints, jewelry and more.
