Ceremony to honor military veterans
In commemoration of Veterans Day, the city of Centerville and Centerville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9550 are saluting the men and women who have helped protect, preserve and maintain our country’s freedoms. A ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Memorial at Stubbs Park, 255 W. Spring Valley Road.
The program includes remarks from Mayor Brooks Compton and a keynote address from Col. Lori Winn, commander of 88th Communications Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The service will also include color guard presentations from Centerville VFW Post 9550 and the Centerville Police and Washington Twp. fire departments’ honor guards.
In addition, there will be musical performances by the Cline Elementary School Fourth Grade Chorus, the Centerville Community Chorus and the Centerville Community Band and a reading by Centerville High School student Cassie Coleman. Cub Scout Pack 148 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Washington-Centerville Library and Centerville-Washington History will honor veterans with an exhibit Nov. 9-11 during open hours and host an open house reception for veterans 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 11 at Centerville Library, 111 W.
