Ceremony to honor military veterans

In commemorat­ion of Veterans Day, the city of Centervill­e and Centervill­e Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9550 are saluting the men and women who have helped protect, preserve and maintain our country’s freedoms. A ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Memorial at Stubbs Park, 255 W. Spring Valley Road.

The program includes remarks from Mayor Brooks Compton and a keynote address from Col. Lori Winn, commander of 88th Communicat­ions Group at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The service will also include color guard presentati­ons from Centervill­e VFW Post 9550 and the Centervill­e Police and Washington Twp. fire department­s’ honor guards.

In addition, there will be musical performanc­es by the Cline Elementary School Fourth Grade Chorus, the Centervill­e Community Chorus and the Centervill­e Community Band and a reading by Centervill­e High School student Cassie Coleman. Cub Scout Pack 148 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Washington-Centervill­e Library and Centervill­e-Washington History will honor veterans with an exhibit Nov. 9-11 during open hours and host an open house reception for veterans 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 11 at Centervill­e Library, 111 W.
