Library panel to focus on immigrant experience
A panel of immigrants and refugees will share their personal stories at the Dayton Metro Library with “Voices of the Immigrant Experience.” Programs are free and open to the public.
Welcome Dayton’s “Voices of the Immigrant Experience” brings together diverse community members whose lives may not typically intersect. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists in order to build deeper understanding.
Two Library programs will build on these connections:
■ Welcoming New Americans: Tuesday 5:30-7:30 p.m., Main Library, Eichelberger Forum. Includes members of Welcome Dayton, Catholic Social Services, Dayton City Commission, and new citizens themselves.
■ Town Hall on Racism & Islamophobia: Thursday 6-8 p.m., Main Library, Eichelberger Forum. A partnership with the Dayton Human Relations Council and Dr. Marium Husain, MD, MPH, OSU Wexner Medical Center.
Mango Languages, available free of charge at DaytonMetroLibrary.org, offers self-paced English language lessons as well as lessons in 71 other languages. Volunteer-led Talk Tables at the Main Library and several Branch Libraries provide safe, comfortable places for individuals to practice English conversation skills and learn about helpful resources.
