THERE THEY GO AGAIN
The usual suspects are at it again. “Andy From Havertown” and “Riddlewood Ken.” Sheesh! “Andy” deflects the horror of last weekend by pointing to shootings in other major cities. As if what? As if the fact that there are lots of shootings with regular guns in addition to mass murders using assault weapons somehow abrogates responsibility for actually addressing the problem in a substantive way, other than moaning about video games and mental health? No one is to blame? Especially not Trump? And extra-especially not the gun status quo? “Andy” says, “Not one person has a solution.” Unbelievable. Well, “Andy,” solutions have been proposed, don’t you know,
but the NRA lackeys in Congress refuse to consider them. People like you might not like the proposed solutions, but don’t say that solutions haven’t been proposed. And “Ken.” Oh, boy. How exactly did Trump “create” 400,000 new jobs? Please tell us what he did. What caused lower unemployment rates for minorities - and again, what did Trump do to “accomplish” this? Be specific. If you can’t, then don’t throw such figures around without context. JB
FOOLED AGAIN
When John Middleton took the reins of the Phillies, we fans thought, “Finally a man who knows baseball and wants to win.” Well, we have found out that you are not either. Sorry, you may be a
nice man but you either don’t know baseball or you don’t care about winning. Ninety percent of the fans want change and you do nothing.
DAMNED IF HE DOES
To “All about Trump:” Trump went to El Paso to offer condolences and support to the people. If he didn’t go down, you would have said, “How come our president doesn’t go down and show support?” You can’t have it both ways! A TRUMP SUPPORTER
WHAT A CATCH
“Amazing” does not adequately describe the recent Upper Darby Summer Stage Production of “Big Fish.” Joyful, funny, tearful with an outstanding
cast, ensemble, orchestra and production crew. The singing and dancing
by these very talented performers were outstanding and their performances challenged the New York Broadway production of “Big Fish.” There was hardly a dry eye at the ending of this heart-felt story. Kudos to the director, music director, choreographer and all those who contributed to this magnificent production. BETH
ALL ABOUT SAFETY
To “Blame the Guns:” You say there are 120 guns per 100 people in this country and it’s obscene. And you blame the accessibility and say it the availability and accessibility of guns. Well, why haven’t the guns wiped us out yet? They outnumber us. As for accessibility, there are countries that the law requires them to have guns
and the government even issues citizens guns. Switzerland and Israel come to mind. The real problem is gun safety. There was a time gun safety was taught in schools as well as at home. But not anymore because you were offended. If kids are taught that guns are tools, not toys, they wouldn’t fear them, nor would they be as casual with them. So you are to blame as much whomever else you want to blame. Next time you want to mouth off and blame someone, do it while looking at yourself in the mirror.
PRAY FOR CHANGE
Yo, “Andy from Havertown!” Your Moscow Mitch and the GOP-controlled Senate have refused to take a vote on universal background check legislation (H.R. 8)
passed in February by the Democratic-controlled House. If President Pathological Liar truly desired gun control legislation passed, Moscow and his Trump zombies would’ve done so. Oh wait! Moscow and his mindless cohorts send their thoughts and prayers. Again and again and again ... BILL FROM BROOMALL
A SPIRE FOR GREATNESS
Thank you for showing the before-and-after pictures of the Tower Theatre spire. I am sure many people did not remember what the whole piece looked like. The Philadelphia Inquirer only showed them taking it apart, so I appreciate your take on it. IT’LL BE MISSED IN UPPER DARBY
