- JUST WONDERING DAN

CARSON, GO HOME

Hey Carson Wentz, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist or an MIT degree to tell you that’s not your team any more, buddy. Why don’t you get out of town? Get out of town, Carson. Do us all a favour.

DROP IN THE BUCKET

Dear Nancy Pelosi, if you give the money for the wall to Trump thousands of people will have jobs and all the government workers will be paid. Five billion dollars to them doesn’t seem like very much, Just ask the government workers.

GET UNPLUGGED

Just read Phil’s article about wanting to unplug which is impossible for him. I’m 83 years old and I’m totally off the grid except for a used flip phone that I carry around for emergencies only. I realize I don’t know what’s going on 24/7 but most this is useless information to me anyway. I read the Daily Times print edition every day and that’s enough for me. I’m enjoying my freedom from technology. THE OLD TIMER

GET THE FACTS

Yes this is in response to Sunday’s Sound Off complaining about the beverage tax in Philly. You live in Delaware County, you don’t pay it. Gas is not $2 a gallon in Delaware, it’s only a nickle cheaper than here in Delaware County. And it wasn’t the governor who put all the taxes on the gas, my man, it was your Republican Senate and legislators. They added 39 cents to a gallon of gas over three years. Read your history.

PRO-CHOICE, PROLIFE

I am against abortion but I am for free will. Why do I have to feel so left out of the political system because I believe in prochoice as a choice between God and the individual yet detest the greedy unchristlike behavior of the GOP? However, I would implore any woman considering an abortion to search her heart. As hard as it is to comprehend, there really is a child in there. RNB

OH JOY

I woke up this morning so very happy. My Philadelphia Eagles won and Donald J. Trump is still my president. Thank you, God. It couldn’t get much better.

WHAT A FAKE

So Trump asked for prime time on all major TV stations. Are these not the same stations he calls “Fake News?” But maybe it’s appropriate, since whatever he says will not be true ... thus, Fake News.

THAT’LL SHOW ‘EM

I see that the Democrats in the House are going to start passing individual bill to reopen agencies in the coming days because Trump is such a complete failure and they’re starting with the Treasury Department to ensure people receive their tax returns. That’s how government is supposed to work, not the way Trump chooses — shutting the government down because he can’t get his way and acts like a baby.

THE HARD LINE

OK, here’s the position in Washington, D.C., in case you’re all wondering. There will be no concessions given. There will be a wall. There will be nothing for immigrants. We’re tired of talking immigrants. We’re tired of a crisis at the border. We’re tired of people coming in here and draining our economy. We gave you eight years of concessions with the other guy. We’re not giving you any more concessions. Understand? There will be a wall and there will be no concessions.

JUST TRY IT

Listen, with this government shutdown, I got a great idea. How about if the American people keep track of this? And however many days this continues, withhold some of your federal income taxes because the government is shut down. I mean, what we paying for? This is ridiculous I’m not paying for something I’m not getting and the government supposed be operational 24/7. MAGIC MIKE IN HAVERTOWN

BOOK IT

Hi, I’m calling to thank Christina of the Haverford Library Reference Department. Christine has been a great help to me in securing books that are not right in our library and I’d also like to thank everyone in the libraries in the Delaware County area for their hard work and dedication. Let’s keep the libraries open and let’s have more funding to keep them open. Thank you.
