100 Years Ago – 1917:
Second Lt. Alfred Cramp, former PMC student and later an instructor, has been promoted in the Marine Corps, obtaining a commission of first lieutenant. He is stationed with the Seventh Regiment, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He likes the service and his many friends firmly believe he will gain promotions rapidly.
75 Years Ago – 1942:
Tickets are on sale throughout Chester for the football game to be played tomorrow night at the PMC Stadium between the Wilmington Clippers, champions of the American Association, and the Lloyd Athletic Club. John F. Hawkins, chairman of the Ticket Committee, has placed reserved seat tickets at $1.65 and general admission tickets, $1.10.
50 Years Ago – 1967:
Delaware County Commissioners Chairman Frank A. Snear Jr. received Thursday night a gift of $20,000 – the proceeds from a giant testimonial dinner at the Log Cabin Inn in Middletown. Snear promptly told an estimated 1,300 persons at the dinner he is turning the funds over to the trustees of the new county Republican headquarters in Media to put the estimated $140,000 building “free and clear of encumbrances” and would finance its maintenance for the next 18 months. Minutes earlier, the structure at 323 W. Front St., had been officially named the Snear Building. Snear, who is also chairman of the county’s Republican Board of Supervisors (War Board), called the headquarters “one of the finest in the state.”
25 Years Ago – 1992:

Since re-opening last Thanksgiving, customers feel they have just entered a new dimension of a video store.”
10 Years Ago – 2007:
Upland officials are applauding the quick response of a public works employee and two police officers in catching a burglary suspect red-handed. A highway department worker was walking past a residence in the 3600 block of Sixth Street when he noticed a man entering the home through a basement window. The suspect broke out a kitchen window with officers Rob McCreight and Matt Rustark giving chase. The 39-year-old man was apprehended with several collectible items in his possession.
