Catherine V. ‘Cassie’ Weary

Catherine V. “Cassie” Weary, age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2016. Born and raised in Marcus Hook, she was the daughter of the late William and Sophie (Rzucidlo) Hamilton.

Before retiring, Catherine had worked at Sherwood Medical Supply Company for many years. She and her husband then moved to Florida, where she lived until his death in 2014. Catherine enjoyed entertaining and cooking for the many guests that came to visit them while they lived in Florida.

Catherine will be remembered for her compassionate and happy disposition, who was loved by all her met her. She always had a kind word to say about everyone she met.

Catherine was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Frederick L. Weary, and her sister, Ida Cassidy. She is survived by her son, Frederick L. Weary, Jr. (Nancy); her daughters, Catherine Dennison (the late Robert), Patricia Larkin (John), and Nancy Torres (Tony); her brother, William Hamilton, Jr.; her twin sister, Sadie Mylett; as well as 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, from 4 to 6 PM at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, where a Celebration of Catherine’s Life will begin at 6 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 240 N. James St., Newport, DE 19804.
