Fair Acres admin recognized with statewide honor
William D’Amico, the administrator at Fair Acres, Delaware County’s skilled nursing facility in Middletown, earned statewide recognition Aug. 9 when he received the “Outstanding Affiliate” award from the County Commissioners Association (CCAP).
D’Amico received the award at the CCAP annual of Pennsylvania conference held Aug. 7-10 at Split Rock Resort in Carbon County. He also received a resolution from Delaware County Council Chairman Mario J. Civera at the conference.
CCAP is a statewide, nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing the 67 counties in Pennsylvania.
D’Amico was recognized for his leadership in urging the state legislature to eliminate a requirement that counties are responsible for 10 percent of their non-federal Medicaid costs at county-operated nursing homes. This will be phased out as new Medicaid managed care plans are implemented.
“Thanks to Bill’s work, we can continue to provide excellent, compassionate care for the 870 residents who call Fair Acres home, but we no longer have to ask our residents to shoulder the tax burden to help fund Fair Acres,” said Chairman Civera in joining the recognition of D’Amico.
The funding relief will help all counties that operated skilled care facilities for their elderly and frail residents.
D’Amico is president-elect of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Affiliated Healthcare and Living Communities (PACAH). He takes office in January.
D’Amico has served as the nursing home administrator at Fair Acres since April 2012. Fair Acres is the largest nursing home in the state.
“I congratulate Bill on earning the 2016 CCAP Affiliate Member of the Year Award and I also commend him for his leadership with the statewide coalition,” Civera said. “By working together, we can constantly strengthen and improve the skilled care that is so critical to our residents and their families.”
