BEST BET: RACE 6, SILENT ALARM

FIRST RACE

SHARP HOLIDAY looked good beating cheaper N1Y foes here Dec. 6. Yes, that came on sloppy going but she’s shown before she’s as good, or even better, on dry land. TIGER MOM beat OPEN foes for this price at DMR Sept. 3. After a good 2nd for $4K on GG synthetic Oct. 21 (when claimed) she found more expensive foes too tough there Nov. 3. She drops and returns to dirt, which may get her back on track. FORTHENINETEEN has won 2 of 3 here, so you know she likes this place. She’s been freshened since pressing the issue and giving way readily vs. tougher at SA Oct. 25.

SECOND RACE

DISCRETE STEVIE B did nothing in her first 2 starts, but both came vs. much tougher straight maidens. She dropped to this level at SA Nov. 3 and responded nicely, finishing a good 2nd, a run which looks even better when you note the gal she chased home that day AND the filly she beat back into 3rd both came right back to win. Her lone sib is Trappe Valley (12-3-3-1, $33K). THANKS made a smart midrace move for $30K at SA Oct. 4 and stayed on for 2nd. Yes, she was no threat to a runaway winner that day but she finished well clear of 3rd and Hess Jr. saw fit to claim her. It’s a great sign he brings her back up in price despite the fact she’s long out of ‘jail’. Two of her 4 sibs are winners including Anna Kate (23-3-2-2, $44K).

JUST SPLENDID debuts with some smart works for a trainer who does quite well first time out. Three of her 4 sibs to race are winners including Gypsy Janie (13-5-2-1, $151K).

THIRD RACE

WAZE READY looks ready to turn the corner. After a dull 7th on turf at SA Oct. 26 she moved back to dirt at this level at DMR Nov. 11 and finished gamely to be a sharp 2nd, beaten just a neck.
