BEST BET: RACE 5, ROSEMERE

FIRST RACE

INDIANTOWN SUNRISE is plunging to the lower conditioned ranks following yet another layoff, and has found a NW3 field that she can handle. She met tough $25K males in her last race in December, and her trainer has fared well with similar comebackers. FLIRTIN FOR CERTIN checked in third in her final ‘17 outing behind Dolly Stormy, who came back to beat $12.5K distaffers with a 68 Beyer. COCA INN figures to be a speed threat in her first start since ending up fourth behind the latter duo Nov. 29.

SECOND RACE

RIKER disappointed as the favorite in his lone winter excursion on the dirt at Gulfstream. The classy 5yo has landed in a spot in which he could make all the running, with a hot Contreras aboard. DUPES put up a 75 Beyer when third in a difficult $25K starter after a similar layoff here last spring. JIMMIES TRUCK could show more than he did in his season opener with Sutherland taking over.

THIRD RACE

ZACK RIDGE ROAD earned a bit of black type when third in a recent 100-grander for Arkansas-breds at Oaklawn. He’s the lone winter-raced runner in this $20K NW2 tilt, and should prevail if he handles the Tapeta adequately. SPLASH WITH ME raced wide throughout before landing on the edges in a longer sprint at this level Dec. 8, when he got a career high 71 Beyer. PHILNGOOD has worked extensively for his first run of the year, and could do some damage off the claim.

FOURTH RACE

BID’S KID finished seventh behind two next-out winners after awaiting room on the turn last time out Nov. 8. The closer nearly got the job done in her ‘17 opener, so she can fire while fresh. GET SAUCY is the lone winter-raced entrant. Her dirt format Penn was dismal, but note that she graduated over this surface. SHE Z TEN THE HARD WAY benefited from a slow pace and a speed bias when a front-running third Dec. 3.

FIFTH RACE

ROSEMERE broke her maiden on the Tapeta here Nov. 29 before going to Florida, where she was a fading seventh in an N1X turf route at Tampa following a layoff three weeks ago. She figures to run big on the turnback to the distance of her graduation in this NW2 OS allowance/$40K claimer. LASSIE’S TEARS wintered at Payson Park before working at Keeneland this month. She never challenged in her last 2yo start, in a restricted stakes that contained three next-out winners, but should get back on track under Boulanger. WHISPERING SPEAKER is a must-use underneath in the exotics, along with TURBO DRIVEN DIVA.

SIXTH RACE

DANCE READY worked well from the gate April 14, and could be ready. Her esteemed older sire, More Than Ready, has gotten nearly 12% debut winners in North America. Longtime maiden SCIENCE FICTION placed in seven of her nine outings, the majority of which were on the dirt. She’s worked twice here on the Tapeta, for a trainer who clicked with his lone starter on opening weekend. LETHAL BEAUTY is a nicely-bred daughter of the late Smart Strike, who’s sired 14% debut winners. NOW PLAY NICE is logical for the lower rungs of the exotics.

SEVENTH RACE

CITY BOY completed his ‘17 campaign on a positive note, with back-to-back seconds behind Ikerrin Road and Constantino. He wintered at Aiken with the capable layoff trainer Mike Keogh, and

has been working right along. MARTEN RIVER figures to take some catching if he shakes loose early, in the manner of his N1X score Nov. 26. Moran replaces the departed Campbell on the son of Silent Name. ABBAA just missed in a $30K starter earlier this month in his first try for leading trainer McKnight, who has solid stats second-time off the claim. Use PUNTROOSKIE in the super.

EIGHTH RACE

SCOTTY’S MODEL finished seventh among three next-out winners March 3 in a quality stakes on the dirt at Oaklawn, where she spun her wheels in the slop in another $125K stakes Jan. 27. She went on a tear on the Tapeta here in the fall, which included a narrow loss to Moonlit Promise in the G2 Bessarabian. SILENT SONET romped in her opener on the Tapeta last spring, before embarking on a grass campaign. She worked bullets on the dirt at Gulfstream during her vacation, and should be prominent if things go her way. MOONLIT PROMISE ran hot and cold in her two winter outings in graded stakes on the dirt at Gulfstream. Sprinting on the Tapeta is her specialty, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see her topple the lot at a chalky price. Use JUST BE KIND and LET IT RIDE MOM in the tri and super.

NINTH RACE

MEGA MONSTER was competitive in two stakes at 2, after capturing her debut going short. She worked a rapid half-mile last Saturday, and should be dangerous with leading rider Hernandez taking over. CLOSE IMAGE earned a Beyer in the 60s in two of her juvenile excursions, which makes her the one to fear most. After notching her opener,

DIRTY GIRL tailed off in the summer, but she could be rejuvenated off the long layoff. Use the closer on the bottom of vertical wagers.

TENTH RACE

THIRTY NINE SEVEN was beaten just a neck by a good-working first-timer at this price and distance in her last ‘17 appearance. The daughter of Court Vision merits top billing with Hernandez replacing the suspended Da Silva. BEAUFILS is adding blinkers for the drop from maiden special company. She should be a factor if cranked up off the layoff. MISS G NOTE checked in third in three of her six races last year. ROMANTIC BLISS has worked decently for a trainer who posted impressive numbers with new shooters last year.
