Donald E. ‘Don’ Forsyth

Newport News–Donald Eugene” Don” Forsy th, USAF Major Ret., 85, died October 10th 2018 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA after a short illness. The family will have a private service Monday in Columbus, OH.

Don was born on March 28, 1933 in Wichita, KS. He graduatedf rom North High School( Columbus, OH) in 1951 and attended Capital University (Columbus, OH ), gr a duating in 1955 with a degree in Education. At Capital, he played men’ sbasketball and was inducted into the Capital University Athletic Hall of Fame on September 19,2009. After Capital University, Don went onto

George Washington University where he obtained a Master’ s Degree in Education. As a career Air Force veteran, he served in Vietnam with over 100 combat missions as a forward observer. He also served with the US Navy and US Army and retired after 20 years as a GS -12.

He is survived by his brother Floyd David Forsy th, daughter Alice Decker, son David Forsy th, and granddaughter Katerina Check. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a contribution to either or both organiz at ions herein his name:
