Robinson’s walk-off triple lifts D-East

The Downingtow­n East High School softball team (5-1 overall, 5-0 Ches-Mont) relied on Ainsley Robinson’s two-run triple with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat West Chester Henderson, 4-3, Wednesday. The Cougars trailed 3-0 in the middle of the sixth inning when Nicki Sudall hit a two-run triple. D-East pitchers Lina Romano and Rachael Schumann combined to give up only one earned run against the hard-hitting Warriors.

KENNETT 6, SUN VALLEY 1 >> Genevieve Ebaugh threw a two-hitter, striking out 17 batters. Of her 104 pitches, 75 were strikes. Ebaugh also slugged a home run, and had three RBIs. Shannon Harvey had two hits, including a triple. UNIONVILLE 17, GREAT VALLEY 0 >> In this four-inning game, the Long-horns got home runs from Lucy Brucker, Sydney Horan, Catherine Stone and Jess Heimberger. The winning pitcher was Becca Boorse, and Bailee Magee got Great Valley’s lone hit. COATESVILL­E 16, BISHOP SHANAHAN 8 >> The Raiders (1-2, 1-2) pounded out 21 hits, including 10 for extra bases. Emma Friel had four hits, in-cluding three doubles, and two RBIs. Emily Scott had four hits and scored three runs. Melanie Panik homered and drove in three runs. Me-gan Gochenauer earned the win in the circle. Julia Vito homered for Bishop Shanahan. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 14, OXFORD 4 >> The Golden Knights’ attack was led by Kelly Fricker (4-for-4, 2 RBIs), Julia Snelling (2-for-3, triple, double, 3 RBIs), Gina DelGiornio (2-for-3, two stolen bases) and Mallory Hardwick (3-for-3, four RBIs, 3 runs scored).

OXFORD 18, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 3 >> In this three-inning game, Connor Reilly had three hits and three RBIs, Timmy Haftl had two hits and three runs scored while Dom Williams broke the game open with a threerun double. Connor Warren got the win on the mound. SUN VALLEY 8, KENNETT 4 >> For the Blue Demons, Nick Patterson 2-for-4, RBI) and Thomas Edmonds (one run scored) each hit a double. EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 7, WESTTOWN 3 >> The Moose (2-3 overall, 1-0 Friends Schools League) were held to two hits, one of them a double by Bryce Lander. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 4, DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 0 >> Winning pitcher Eddie Smink shut out the Cougars, striking out eight batters. Dean O’Neill had two RBIs, and teammate Jackson Rutecki had two hits. For East, Brayden McClain and Alex Lehman each had two hits.

COATESVILL­E 13, BISHOP SHANAHAN 3 >>

The Coatesvill­e: attack was led by RJ Rickabaugh (3-for-4, 3 RBIs, double), Spencer Ferguson (2-for2, 2 runs scored, RBI), Zachary Kudlacik (2-for-3, 2 runs scored) and Harrison Susi (triple). The Eagles were led by Sean Gingrich (2-for-2) and Simmi Whitehil (1-for2, double, run scored, RBI).

Boys lacrosse KENNETT 15, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 3 >>

The Blue Demons were led by Jake Freeeberry (10 assists), Zach Hulme (four goals), Sam Forte (three goals, one assist) and Rich Hughson (three goals, one assist, won 13 of 18 faceoffs). For the Warriors, Charlie Fort, Alex Romano and Max Abraham scored goals and Ryan Timmins recorded 11 saves.
