Kennett, GV swim to a split

Kennett and Great Valley each emerged victorious in a double-dual Ches-Mont League swim meet at Immaculata University Wednesday, with the Blue Demon boys winning 92-78 and the Patriot girls earning a 97-73 victory.

In the Kennett boys’ 92-78 victory, the Blue Demons touched first in eight of the 11 races. Quadruple winners for Kennett were Liam Simmons (200 free, 100 fly) and Nathan Ober (100 free, 100 breast), and both were members of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. Matthew Ober won the 100 breast and Luke Silverstei­n won the 500 free, barely touching out Great Valley’s Seth Turner and Leo Hawke. Turner won the 50 free and Brett Graff won the 200 IM. The Patriots won the 400 free relay (Phillip Zhang, Graff, Hawke, Colin Search).

In the Great Valley girls’ 97-73 win, triple winners for the Patriots included Mac Sullivan (200 free, 100 fly) and Peyton Turner (50 free, 100 free). Sullivan and Turner were joined by Bella Gilmartin and Allyssa Utecht in the winning 200 medley relay. Utecht also won the 100 back. Anette Dileo won the 100 breast.

The Patriots touched first in the 400 free relay (Reese Barron, Kylie Maher, Maddie Geibel, Avery Chalfant). Kennett’s Sydney McCracken won the 200 IM and Jenna Oakes won the 500 free.

Wrestling

WEST CHESTER EAST 35, COATESVILL­E 34 >> The Vikings came back from a 34-19 deficit, getting a pin from Justin Steinberge­r (152 pounds), a major decision from Justus Lamb (160) and a 21-second fall from Jake Fenimore (170) to win by one point. East also got a pin by Hugh Lemmon-Kishi (285). For Coatesvill­e, pins were scored by Caleb Henson (182), Nathan Lucier (126), Evan Seagreaves (132) and Malik Lavalais (138). Jacob McBride won a major decision at 145 to give the Red Raiders a 34-19 lead. SUN VALLEY 56, GREAT VALLEY 15 >> The Patriots got a pin from both Nick Mort (152 pounds) and Aidan O’Neil (182) and a 9-4 win at 120 pounds from Tim Matthews.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 4, WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 1 >> The Golden Knights got goals from Gavin Dempsey, Justin Demyan,

Justin Owens and Aaron King, and Rustin goalie Gavin Bobst made 26 saves. For the Warriors, Tyler Platz scored, and goalie Dylan Krick recorded 31 saves.

Men’s Basketball

LOCK HAVEN 89, WEST CHESTER 84 >> The No. 12-ranked Golden Rams (14-2 overall, 8-2 PSAC) held a 7771 lead with 4:21 left, but the hosts went on an 18-7 run to earn the win. WCU freshman Robbie Heath scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while sophomore Josh Samec tallied 20 points. Golden Ram freshman guard Malik Slay, a Downingtow­n East grad, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists.

WESLEY COLLEGE 76, IMMACUALAT­A 44 >> The Mighty Macs shot just 29.5 percent from the field and 19 percent from beyond the arc in the setback. Additional­ly, Immaculata ended the game with just 30 rebounds while their guests claimed 54 rebounds. Brandon McCullough scored 22 points for the Mighty Macs, including four treys.

Women’s Basketball

WEST CHESTER 76, LOCK HAVEN 69 >> Redshirt senior guard Alexis Anderson tied a career high with 25 points as the Golden Rams (6-9 overall, 4-6 PSAC) won their third straight game. Anderson

added nine rebounds and four steals, and converted five treys. Gabrielle Troisi grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists, while Leah Johnson chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds. IMMACULATA UNIVERSITY 70, WESLEY 40 >> The Mighty Macs (8-7 overall, 2-0 Atlantic East) earned their fourth consecutiv­e win, as Jordan Rook matched her career high with 18 points. Theresa Kearney chipped in with 14 points, and freshman Morgan Falcone scored a careerbest 14 points off the bench. The Mighty Macs are 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 2015.
