Coatesville police arrest alleged abductor suspect
COATESVILLE » Police arrested a man who allegedly abducted a victim at gunpoint and the victim escaped unharmed.
Coatesville police received a report of an abduction shortly before 5 a. m. on Nov. 12. The victim reported that he was confronted at gunpoint in the area of the Walgreens store in the 800 block of East Lincoln Highway in Coatesville. That victim told police that a man forced him to drive off in his vehicle with him. The victim identified the man as being a short, blackmale wearing all black clothing.
While driving his vehicle, the victim said the man threatened him and had a gun pointed to his head. The victim told police he found an opportunity to wrestle the gun from the man, and during that struggle, the gun went off. The vehicle subsequently crashed into a pole and flipped in the area of Division Alley. The vehicle erupted into flames, police said, but the victim was able to secure the handgun and climbed out of the vehicle to safety.
The abductor reportedly fled on foot and police were able to track a blood trail from the crash site to the area of Virginia Avenue. Police were able to make contact with the suspect’s girlfriend, who told police her Ruger 9mm was missing. Police obtained video surveillance footage and with the testimonies from the girlfriend and the victim of the kidnapping, police said they identified Brian Mason as the abduction suspect. Police said thatMason received medical attention at Crozer- Chester Medical Center, and Coatesville Police Detectives took him into custody at the hospital. Mason is in Chester County Prison, unable to post his $ 200,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in front of Magisterial District Judge Gregory V. Hines.

Crash
Police were dispatched at 9: 32 a. m. on Nov. 15 for a report of a vehicle crash into the Coatesville Area Senior Center at 250 Harmony Street. Police said that the driver was distracted while parking and was unaware that the vehicle was in driver instead of reverse. Police said there was damage to the center and that no one inside was injured, but the driver sustained a facial injury due to the impact with the steering wheel. The driver was transported to Brandywine Hospital forminor injuries.
Public intoxication
Police responded to a disturbance in an establishment in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway at 11: 05 p. m. on Nov. 10. Police said security advised them that Sabin S. Suber reportedly caused a disturbance. Police spoke with Suber, 22, of Coatesville, and they said they detected an odor of alcoholic beverage on him. Police said Suber had trouble following basic instructions and hewas taken into custody for public intoxication because he was a danger to himself and others.
Police responded to the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway at 4 p. m. on Nov. 12 for a wellbeing check. Upon arrival, police said they found John Tirado being held up by two people. Police said Tirado, 24, of Coatesville, was reportedly stumbling and exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and blood shot eyes. He was taken into custody for public intoxication and held at the police station until he sobered.
Drug arrest
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation at 11 a. m. on Nov. 16 in the area of Coates Street and Boundary Court. During a search of the vehicle with consent from the driver, identified by police as Dajour James Hoggard, police said they found edible marijuana gummy bears. Police said Hoggard, 20, of Coatesville, was taken into custody without incident.
Warrant
Police were dispatched to Turkey Hill at 3: 41 p. m. on Nov. 15 in reference to a wanted person inside the store who reportedly had previously threatened to rob the store at gunpoint. Police said they made contact with Harold Smith IV, 28, of Coatesville, who police knew had an active warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and arraigned.
Police conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Merchant Street at 1: 23 a. m. on Nov. 15. Policemade contactwith Shannon Schillaci, 35, of Coatesville, who they said was found to have outstanding warrants. She was taken into custody without incident.
