Free concert
The Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church: The public is invited to a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at 101 Old Kennett Pike, Wilmington, Del. Father-son Old-Time roots duo Ken and Brad Kolodner will weave together a unique soundscape on hammered dulcimer, hammered mbira, banjo, gourd banjo
and fiddles. Ken Kolodner is widely known as one of the finest hammered dulcimer players in the U.S. while his son Brad is one of the best clawhammer banjo players in the U.S. Old-time music is a uniquely American form of traditional roots music that grew out of the melting pot of Celtic music and African rhythms, preceding Bluegrass and country music, yet still evolving today. Church chocolate Easter Eggs sale
The Oxford United Methodist Church: Boxed halfpound, decorated, individually boxed candy eggs will be on sale. These must be ordered by Sunday, March 5 by calling 610-932-4556. Choose from peanut butter, coconut cream, butter cream or chocolate nut. The eggs may be picked up at the Church Fellowship Hall (Market and Addison streets, Oxford, PA) on Wednesday, April 5 between 3 and 5:30 p.m.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Church of the Holy Trinity: The church, at 212 S. High. St., West Chester, will host a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Pancakes and sausage cooked up by the Men’s Breakfast group and served by the J2A (Journey to Adulthood) group to the sounds of New Orleans Jazz. Your choice of chocolate chip or blueberry pancakes Cost $5 per person, $20 for parties of 4 or more. All proceeds benefit the J2A Pilgrimage Fund. WFCS Mom’s Day Out Program
West Fallowfield Christian School: Little Falcons Preschool, 795 Fallowfield Road, Atglen, hosts a “Mom’s Day Out Program” for children ages three to five the third Wednesday of each month from noon to 3 p.m. The goal of the program is to provide structured theme-based activities for the children in a caring and nurturing environment. The February theme is “Valentine’s Day & Community Helpers” and will include learning centers, story time, circle time and outdoor play. The cost for the program is $15 per session. Operation Baby Blessings
The Church of the Holy
Trinity: Located at 212 S. High St., West Chester, the church’s annual Epiphany Outreach program, Operation Baby Blessings, is underway. It benefits the OB/GYN Clinic at Chester County Hospital. At the request of the clinic the program hopes to supply a quantity of temporal scan thermometers suitable for infants. A $20 donation will purchase one thermometer. A donation of any amount will be gratefully received. Checks may be made payable to the Church of the Holy Trinity with “Baby” in the memo.
