Ulster County sees another decline in active cases

The number of Ulster County residents battling COVID-19 continued to decline over the weekend.

On its online dashboard of COVID-19 data, the county said that as of Saturday, Feb. 13, there there were 1,878 active cases of COVID-19, down 136 from the 2,014 active cases reported on Feb. 12.

Since Tuesday, Feb. 9, the county has seen a dramatic decrease in the number of active cases, from 2,331 cases to the current 1,878 cases.

The number of active cases in Ulster is the lowest since mid-January but still well above the daily totals of last July through September, which never topped 200.

The county reported that of the 1,094 test results recently received, 43 tested positive while 1,053 tested negative, a 3.9 percent positivity rate for Feb. 13. That positivity rate was unchanged from the rate reported on Feb. 12, but up 0.9 percent from the 3 percent positivity rate reported on Thursday.

Since the beginning of the coronaviru­s pandemic, the county has had 10,258 confirmed cases and 224 fatalities. Dutchess County on Sunday reported on its COVID-19 dashboard 1,083 active cases of COVID-19 and a positivity rate of 4.28 percent. According to the dashboard, there were 81 individual­s hospitaliz­ed, down from 89 reported hospitaliz­ed on Saturday.

The county has had 20,714 confirmed cases since last March and 19,240 recoveries, according to its online COVID dashboard. There have been 388 deaths in the county since the pandemic started.
