BASEBALL
American Legion Prospective base school players that attend the following schools are obligated to try out for the following teams: Saugerties Post 72 (Saugerties), Kingston Post 150 (Kingston), Tillson Post 1219 (Rondout Valley), Lloyd Post 93 (Highland), New Paltz Post 175 (New Paltz), Coxsackie Post 166 (Catskill), Newburgh Post 152 (Newburgh Free Academy), Middletown Post 151 (Middletown).
Non-base school players that attend schools such as Onteora, John A. Coleman Catholic, Marlboro, Wallkill, Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Pine Plains, Tri-Valley, Sullivan West, Fallsburg, Pine Bush and Livingston Manor shall try out for the team whose high school (base school) is nearest to their parents’ or guardians’ domicile. Woodstock Fencing Club: Meets 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Cafetorium at the Woodstock Elementary School (when school is open). Instruction given at all levels in all weapons — Foil, Sabre and Epee from 6:30-8. Practice and bouting. Fence dry or electric. Central Hudson Valley Football Officials Association Clinics: The CHVFOA, which services Sections 9 & 1 in Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland and Sullivan counties, will conduct clinics for new officials at 2 locations: Middletown High 6:30 p.m. May 15, 20, 22 and 29 with test on June 3, plus also at the Pomona American Legion 6:30 p.m. May 16, 20, 23 and 30 with test on June 4. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, reside withing one of the five listed counties and must attend three of five sessions. Fee is $50 for materials and the course. Yang Yin Yoga: 10:1511:45 a.m. Mondays and Fridays at Mountain View Studio, 20 Mountain View Ave., Woodstock. This mixed-level class incorporates vigorous and stimulating strength-building postures for the first part of class, then transitions to calming, flexibility-promoting postures for the second. The session finishes with guided meditation for total physical and mental relaxation. As you refine your physical and mental skills through the yoga process, your body will feel balanced, i.e., stimulated yet relaxed, while your mind will be focused and peaceful. This class is not for absolute beginners. Students must know basic yoga postures. Instructor is Leslie Snow, who has taught yoga for seven years and been a personal trainer for 10.
