SHOKAN » Matthew Jason Brennan, 29, of Shokan, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at his residence. He was born Feb. 26, 1989, in Kingston, the son of Gregory and Barbara Chorman Brennan. A native and lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Onteora High School. He recently earned his commercial driver’s license and had employment already in place. Matthew enjoyed the beauty of nature and outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and hiking. He was a very talented musician who was self-taught with the guitar, piano, and trumpet. He was a loving, kindhearte­d, caring and generous individual who focused on helping less fortunate people with food, clothing, and his time. Matthew was devoted to his family, and loved by all who knew him.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandfathe­r, Kenneth Brennan of New Jersey, and two brothers, Eric and Daniel of Washington.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Matthew will be on Saturday, Sep. 29, 2018, at noon at E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia, with the Rev. Raphael Iannone as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributi­ons be made to Benedictin­e Health Foundation, In memoriam of Matthew Brennan, 144 Pine St., Suite 220, Kingston, N.Y. 12401. Friends will be received on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the memorial service, and from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at E.B. Gormley Funeral Home.
