Inaugural Library Street Fair a success

Dear People editor: It is with heartfelt appreciation that the Friends of the Saugerties Library thanks our community for the success of our first Library Street Fair. A large part of our success was a direct result of the decades of hard work from the Friends volunteers who offered a book and plant sale for many years and who provided guidance, wisdom and support.

We thank the village and town officials, Saugerties Police Dept., Diaz Ambulance and our many vendors.

The Saugerties High School Key Club members performed non-stop yeoman’s work along with members of the Stegmayer Family. The Saugerties League of Women Voters and the SPCA are also to be thanked, along with Tammy Drost from Michael’s Farm, face painter Tina VanVoorhis and Bobby Stillwell of Off the Hook Food Truck. Many local businesses donated items for our raffle. Music was provided by Caprice Rouge. We thank Mirabella’s for giving us a special on our pizza order.

Hugs and a thank you to Rae Stang, of Lucky Chocolates, who was a main attraction featuring Rae’s Carnival Games.

Our plant sale was a success, thanks to very generous plant donations from Adams Fairacre Farms and Boices Farm of Saugerties.

Hudson Valley Deserts and Arlene Deahl, Banana Moon Baking, donated extraordinary baked goods. Of course, the Friends’ bakers never fail us!

Thank you also to so many who donated books, helped before and after the event, including members of our library staff and its Board of Directors.

And, any event is dependent on publicity. Thanks to the Daily Freeman, Saugerties Times, Saugerties Lighthouse 23 and Macaroni Kids.

We hope you’ll join us next year as we grow and improve the day’s festivities, all with our community and its families in mind.
