M-W sweeps by Kingston in opener

MonroeWood­bury swept Kingston High in the teams’ Orange County Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n cross country season opener.

The Crusaders won the boys meet 15-50 and the girls 19-44.

Ella DePhillips won the girls race for Monroe in 22:33.01 and teammate Keith Allen captured the boys racer in 17:57.32. Freshman Hallie TerBush placed second for the Tigers, finishing in 22:43.97. Also competing for Kingston were Clara Sensini (11th, 23:26.48), Maggie Noe (12th, 24:02.42), Thea Kovaleski (14th, 24:10.02), Livi Longen-

dyke (18th, 25:06.86), Marine Nimblette (27th, (27th, 26:18.14), Amelia Loughlin (29th, 26:51.69), Amber Rolleri (30th, 27:25.40), Kaliya Hough (34th, 28:42.00), Molly Green (35th, 28:59.11),

Savannah Nimblette (38th, 30:14.04), Kaitlyn Curran (39th, 30:17.71), Tyler Bollin (40th, 31:50.74) and Carolyn Vargas (42nd, 37:41.90).

Bradley Hack was the top runner for the Tiger boys, taking eighth in 19:08.06. He was followed by Bailey Ryan (19:24.58) and Eddy Zajac (19:27.19) in 11th and 12th, respective­ly.

Also running for the Tigers were Giovanni Melchionne (16th, 20:20.64), Colin Keck (17th, 20:27.56), Gabe Bonse (20th, 20:40.28), Jack Gallo (21st, 20:51.02), Andrew Hill (25th, 21:06.58), Trevor Loughlin (27th, 21:11.22), Joe Ciardi (30th, 21:26.71), Paul Herrling (31st, 21:34.44), Matt Krom (35th, 21:47.61), Cole Elmendorf

(36th, 21:48.84), Cameron Fairley (39th, 22:04.31), Justin Hovorka (43rd, 22:48.35), Jordan Hulbert (45th, 23:06.84), Tristan Mochon (47th, 23:09.45), Fernando Guerra Mateo (50th, 23:57.34) and Reyhan Quayum (57th, 25:01.67).

Kingston has its first home meet next Tuesday against Middletown.
