Bardavon will broadcast Met performance WHAT: The Met: Live in HD broadcast WHEN: May 13 at 12:30 p.m. WHERE: Bardavon, 35 Market St., Poughkeepsie DETAILS: The Bardavon will conclude The Met: Live in HD 2016-17 season with a broadcast of Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier.” The Met’s first new production since 1969 of Strauss’ rich romantic masterpiece is conducted by Music Director James Levine and directed by Robert Carsen. Renée Fleming, in her final Met performance sings, one of her signature roles as the Marschallin, opposite Elina Garanca in her first North American performances as Octavian, the impulsive young title character. Thirty minutes before curtain time, ticket holders are invited to enjoy an insightful talk on the day’s production by Leslie Gerber, a music teacher at Marist’s Center for Lifetime Studies and author of all Hudson Valley Philharmonic playbill liner notes. Fundraising dinner dance in Hyde Park on May 19 WHAT: Fundraising dinner dance WHEN: May 19 at 6 p.m. WHERE: Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 1273 Route 9G, Hyde Park DETAILS: The Artists’ Collective of Hyde Park will have a dinner dance with an art auction to raise funds for its Second Annual Arts Scholarship to be awarded to a graduating Franklin D. Roosevelt High School arts student next spring. The dinner will include pasta, meatballs, salad, garlic bread, coffee/tea, and dessert. Drink tickets may be purchased. DJ Johnny Angel will be playing music from the ‘50s through the ‘80s. Tickets are $22 per person, $40 for couples. Reservations by May 15 are required.
