Ann Meredyth was born Meredyth Ann Hall May 30, 1939 in Denver to Charles

Dwight Hall and Leonora Mccullough Hall. She passed away peacefully in Denver on October 30, 2022.

As a child, she lived in various parts of

Colorado including Stratton, Burlington, La Junta, and Castle Rock. She graduated from Douglas County High School in 1957 and attended Western State College (now Western Colorado University), where she was on the debate team. She graduated in 1961 with a BA in chemistry and minors in physics and math.

She worked for Marathon Oil Company in Denver and later pursued graduate work in chemistry at the University of Colorado Boulder.

She married Edgeworth Rupert Westwater in 1961. She stayed home to raise her three children between 1964 and 1975 and pioneered pro-child childrearing and childhood nutrition practices. An excellent seamstress, she made many of the kids' clothes and toys.

She enrolled at the University of Colorado Law School in 1976 and graduated with her JD in 1978. She worked in private practice as a family law attorney in Boulder County and dedicated much of her practice to pro bono ser vice.

In 1987, she moved to Washington DC, where she began to pursue a career as an artist. She continued that pursuit in Key West, Florida and in Denver, where she settled for the last 27 years of her life in order to be close to family. Over the course of her career, she created thousands of pieces of fiber art, from modern quilts to soft sculpture, and also sketched, painted, designed jewelry, and bound books. She was an accomplished piano player.

Ann had a lifelong interest in politics and social justice. She traveled on a peace mission to Nicaragua in 1986 and was frequently involved in advocacy for the causes she held dear, from the hyperlocal to the international. She loved baseball (the Colorado Rockies above all), macrobiotic cooking, board games, word games, and current events. She was a passionate Democrat.

She is survived by her brother Charles Dwight Hall, III (Dee); her daughter Kristin Rose Mcdonald (Bill); her son John David Westwater (Yanzi); her daughter Lynn Lara Westwater (Jay Brodsky); and her grandchildren Ian Edward Mcdonald, Nolan Charles Mcdonald, Sofia Madeleine Brodsky, Julia Rose Brodsky, and Anna Christine Brodsky. Her passing is also mourned by Dr. Ed R. Westwater (Jerri).

Contributions in Ann's honor can be made to Planned Parenthood, Emily's List, or your local public radio station. Donations can also be made to the employee-assistance fund for either Rocky Mountain Assisted Living or Gateway Hospice, where she was lovingly tended in her struggle with dementia.
