Marilyn, the fifth child of 10, was born Aug. 29, 1935 near Winner, S.D. to John and Dorothy (Skolasky) Kapustka.

At a very young age, her family moved to Barnum, Iowa where she graduated from high school. On August 20, 1956, Marilyn was united in marriage to Floyd (Bud) Kallhoff.

While attending Barnum High School, Marilyn was part of the women’s basketball team, which she often talked about. She worked at Mutual of Omaha Insurance following high school. Her adult life was spent in Nebraska beginning with Elgin, then Comstock and later Broken Bow, as she worked and raised her family.

Many memories were made with Marilyn at Bud’s Bar and B&M Steakhouse in Comstock during the 70s. She was an avid Husker fan, always listening to/watching football, volleyball, baseball or the men’s and women’s basketball games.

Marilyn enjoyed being able to attend her children and grandchildren’s high school football, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, or tennis games. She championed their cause for more playing time and

unfair calls from the referees. Not sure, but she may have been escorted out of a gymnasium at least once.

Marilyn also loved to travel with her sister, Ruby, as well as her bowling team.
