Jose Antonio Goncalves

Jose Antonio Goncalves, age 58 of Fairfield, suddenly returned to the Loving Arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 peacefully in his home. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal on May 16, 1962 and raised in Bridgeport, CT. He was predeceased by his parents, Joaquim and Ana M. Goncalves and his brother, David Goncalves.

Jose, also known by his friends and family as “Joe Mama” enjoyed praising the Lord at St. Augustine’s Cathedral in Bridgeport, CT. He cherished the time spent with his family and his friends camping, golfing, cooking, fishing, and hunting. He was the successful owner of Mama’s Construction for the past 20 years. His hard work and talents remain in many of his friends’ and families’ homes. Joe was well known to have a heart of gold. His arms were open to everyone who he crossed paths with. Joe would give you the shirt off his back. He showed unconditional love for his family and friends.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving daughter, Amanda Goncalves and fiancé Markus Santiago, his son, Christopher Goncalves and his significant other, Tania Silva. He also leaves his brother, Paul Goncalves and significant other, Maria Alves and youngest brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joanna Goncalves. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave., Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Due to the current situation seating is limited, please respect social distancing, and wear a mask to the services.
