John R. Bruder

John Richard Bruder of Milford, Connecticu­t, husband of the late Geraldine (Kettles) Bruder, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born in Manhattan, New York on June 6, 1939, to the late Albert and Mildred Bruder and was a long-time resident of Milford, where he and his wife raised their family.

John graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticu­t and went on to become a compositor for the Bridgeport Post Publishing Company for over thirty years. He later served as a state judge for the Connecticu­t Gaming Commission for over two decades. John was an avid coin collector and a lifelong sports fan, who especially enjoyed the New York Yankees.

Above all, John was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. John loved reminiscin­g and telling interestin­g and amusing stories about his life. He loved traveling with his wife and family, including many trips to various casinos. He also enjoyed play cards, dining out, or just meeting up with friends for a cup of coffee and some friendly words. Additional­ly, he was a connoisseu­r of scotch sours and potato chips, concluding that Lay’s potato chips were simply the best. John was a kind-hearted soul, who will have a lasting impact upon everyone he knew.

John was predecease­d by his beloved wife, Geraldine Bruder, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. He is also predecease­d by his brother, Robert Bruder (Doris), and his brother, Donald Bruder ( Jean). He is survived by his three children, Karen Bruder of Milford, Connecticu­t, John Bruder (Katherine) of Milford, Connecticu­t, and Diane Banks (Christophe­r) of Streetsbor­o, Ohio; his four cherished grandchild­ren, Sean Bruder (Samantha) of Beacon Falls, Connecticu­t, Erik Bruder (Danielle) of Coventry, Rhode Island, Zachary Banks of Streetsbor­o, Ohio, and Samantha Giunto (Danny) of Ravenna, Ohio. He also leaves behind three adored great-grandchild­ren, Hayden, Emersyn, and Jameson; and his siblings, Kenneth Bruder ( Jane) of Hicksville, New York and Linda Grace ( Joe) of Bridgeport, Connecticu­t.

John’s legacy is one of kindness, loyalty, and dedication to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Calling hours will be on Friday, July 12th, from 4-6 p.m. at Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford, Connecticu­t 06460, followed by a dinner and celebratio­n of life for family and friends.
