WELCOME TO WEEK 2
Cromwell/Portland at Capital Prep/ Achievement First, Friday, 6:30 p.m.: The defending Pequot (and 2021 Class S) champs meet a Pequot newcomer with a lot of potential.
Windsor at New Britain, Friday, 6:30 p.m.: Windsor was No. 5 in the preseason GameTimeCT Top 10 Poll, went for a late go-ahead two-point conversion and didn’t get it, falling to Wethersfield 21-20. Its next opponent, fighting back from a couple of down years, just matched its 2021 win total.
Greenwich at Ridgefield, Friday, 7 p.m.: Ridgefield got its doors blown off at Shelton and comes home for the No. 1 team in the state. Greenwich wasn’t flawless at Newtown but made enough good things happen.
Seymour at Naugatuck, Friday, 7 p.m.: The Greyhounds opened with a 21-7 win over Gilbert/Northwestern/Housatonic, but they’ll be home again for Caden Drezek and the Wildcats.
Hand at Shelton, Friday, 7 p.m.: Is the whole “2019 game at the Surf Club” thing, Hand’s last-minute win that basically knocked the Gaels out of the playoffs, still a thing? Maybe not, what with Shelton’s revenge-tour home win last year (and, you know, that whole global mess that came in between). Got potential for a fun one anyway.
