Mary Ann Kendall
Mary Ann Piatak Kendall of Stratford died on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in Westerly RI Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Granville, NY to John Piatak and Mary Homa Piatak. She was a lifelong Connecticut resident after moving to Bridgeport early in her life. She attended Warren Harding High School where her yearbook described her personality as “Thou shall reign in quiet”. Mrs. Kendall was a retired District Receptionist for Federal Express and also was employed in banking for many years in various supervisory and managerial capacities. After retirement, she volunteered at local hospitals and the Stratford Baldwin Senior Center. She was a very active and committed Christian who spent her life spreading the Gospel far and wide. Everyone who met her felt her sweet and loving personality. Mary Ann traveled the country with her husband in defense of the unborn and family values. She was active in the many Orthodox Churches she attended during her lifetime and loved to sing in the choir. Her last parish, Holy Ghost Orthodox Church of Bridgeport, CT, she considered as her final spiritual home and lived for fellowship with parishioners. Survivors include her beloved husband and partner of 30 years Richard Kendall, and her three sisters Margaret Piatak, Agnes Hart ( Walter) of Trumbull, and Irene Mulligan of Beacon Falls; and sister- in- law Shirley Pyatak of Stratford. She was also predeceased by brothers John, Michael, Joseph and George, and sister Anna Battagliotti. She was especially fond of her two nieces Patricia Mavlouganes and Karen Prezioso, as well as other nieces, nephews, and their children. The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Bridgeport Hospital and Westerly RI Hospital for their loving care and compassion at the end of Mary Ann’s earthly journey. A graveside funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 22nd at 11 a. m. meeting directly at St. John’s Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Rd., Monroe, CT 06488, Fr. John Jillions presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Mary Ann’s memory to Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, PO Box 55339, Bridgeport, CT 06610.
