Amazon extends small business loan program

The nation now has the world’s largest broadband telecommun­ication network, Miao Wei, minister of Industry and Informatio­n Technology, said on Monday. By the end of March, there were approximat­ely 930,000 kilometers of long-distance fiber-optic cables installed, and the number of 4G network users exceeded 160 million, said the minister. Some 46.4 percent of all broadband users in the country now enjoy speeds of eight megabits per second, a 5.6-fold increase on the first quarter of 2014.

Organizers of a global chambers of commerce and industry convention, Amazon.com Inc will launch its business loan program for small sellers later this year in eight more countries including China, where credit is becoming a key factor in competing for new vendors and grabbing market share. The e-retail giant has previously offered the service only in the United States and Japan.

Car firms shifting Asian factories back to Europe

Internatio­nal car companies are expected to return some production back to Europe from China as its cost advantage weakens, according to Martin Jahn, managing Origin Energy Ltd, Australia’s leading integrated energy company, said on Monday it expects China Petrochemi­cal Corp (Sinopec Group) to fulfill its agreement to buy liquefied natural gas from its A$24.7 billion ($19 billion) export project in Australia. Origin sought to reassure investors amid concern Sinopec may not want all the 7.6 million metric tons of gas it agreed to buy annually under a long-term contract with the Australia Pacific LNG project.

CNNC reveals Slovak power company bid

China National Nuclear Corp has revealed that it plans to bid for Slovakian power generator Slovenske Elektrarne, which is owned by Italy’s largest power company, Enel. It said in a statement that Enel is considerin­g selling its 66 percent stake in the Slovakian power firm. CNNC is The Carlyle Group, the global alternativ­e asset manager, is to invest about $120 million in the fast-growing Chinese logistics company, Shanghai ANE Logistics Ltd. Subject to the customary closing conditions, the transactio­n is expected to close in the third quarter of 2015. Equity for the transactio­n will come from Carlyle Asia Partners IV, said Eric Zhang, managing director of the Carlyle Asia buyout team. As Hewlett-Packard Co prepares to break itself in two, it has announced plans to boost its share of the $38 billion networking market dominated by Cisco Systems Inc. The centerpiec­e of the effort is new software, built on HP’s acquisitio­n of Aruba Networks Inc, which will let customers manage entire networks with a single app, instead of a patchwork of tools.
