Thibodeau, T- Wolves in the market for Rose
The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached out to the New York Knicks to discuss potential trades for Knicks point guard Derrick
Rose, according to ESPN. Rose, a free agent after this season, spent seven seasons under
Tom Thibodeau with the Bulls. Thibodeau now coaches the Timberwolves, who are reportedly among several teams reaching out about Rose. The NBA trade deadline is 2 p. m. Thursday.
In his first season with the Knicks, Rose is averaging 17.7 points per game and shooting 46 percent in 48 games. Hehas missed time with back and ankle injuries, but his knees, which caused him to miss major portions of seasons, haven’t been a problem.
The Knicks acquired Rose from the Bulls last summer. They’re four games out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference. FOOTBALL
Dolphins adding TE Thomas
The Miami Dolphins reportedly agreed to a trade Monday to acquire Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas for a lateround draft pick. The trade can’t be announced officially until March 9, the start of the league year. Former starters Jordan Cameron and
Dion Sims have suffered through injuries and inconsistency, and both will be unrestricted free agents in March. Thomas played two seasons in coach Adam Gase’s system from their time in Denver.

Jets’ Trouba pays for head shot
The NHL suspended Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba for two games for an illegal check to the head of Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone on Sunday.
Stone had just made a pass in the Jets’ zone when Trouba hit him with an open- ice elbow. Stone did not return to the game but joined the Senators for their upcoming road trip.

Charismatic found dead
Former Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Charismatic, whose bid for the Triple Crown in 1999 ended with a dramatic leg injury in the Belmont Stakes, was found dead in his stall Sunday at a retirement farm in Kentucky. Preliminary results from a necropsy indicate the 21- year- old horse, who was retired in December after a long stud career, had suffered a fractured pelvis that caused hemorrhaging.
