Bengals move to 6- 0 with victory vs. Bills

-

With A. J. Green covered tightly all day, Andy Dalton turned to his other receivers to help the visiting Cincinnati Bengals match the best start in franchise history.

Dalton threw touchdown passes to Marvin Jones, Tyler Eifert and Jeremy Hill, and Giovani Bernard scored on a 17- yard run in a 34- 21 victory Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

The Bengals ( 6- 0) broke the game open by scoring 17 points on their first three possessions of the second half to build a 31- 14 lead. They are unbeaten after six games for the third time in franchise history and for the first time since 1988.

EJ Manuel — playing in place of injured Tyrod Taylor — passed for a touchdown and ran for another for the Bills ( 3- 3), who also got 90 yards rushing and a touchdown from LeSean McCoy in his return from a hamstring injury.

Panthers 27, Seahawks 23

Cam Newton threw a 26- yard scoring pass to Greg Olsen with 32 seconds left, and the Carolina Panthers ( 5- 0) drove 80 yards for touchdowns on their last two possessions to stun the host Seattle Seahawks ( 2- 4).

After the second of Jonathan Stewart’s one- yard touchdown runs pulled the Panthers to 23- 20 with 3: 55 left, the Seahawks went three- and- out. Newton then drove the Panthers down the field before finding Olsen wide- open down the seam as safety Earl Thomas and cornerback Richard Sherman looked at each other in confusion.

The Seahawks lost at home for only the second time in the last two seasons. They have led in the fourth quarter in all their losses.

Broncos 26, Browns 23 ( OT)

Peyton Manning shook off three interceptions — including one that Karlos Dansby returned 35 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter — to lead a 72- yard drive that ended in a 34- yard field goal by Brandon McManus with 4: 56 left in overtime, lifting the visiting Denver Broncos ( 6- 0) past the Cleveland Browns ( 2- 4).

Manning, who was 4- for- 4 for 39 yards on the decisive drive, has led a team to six 6- 0 starts, the most of any quarterback in NFL history.

Josh McCown threw two touchdown passes to Gary Barnridge, but one of his two interceptions was returned 63 yards for a touchdown by Aqib Talib in the second quarter.

Steelers 25, Cardinals 13

Landry Jones threw two touchdown passes to Martavis Bryant in relief of Michael Vick, and the host Pittsburgh Steelers ( 4- 2) rallied past the Arizona Cardinals ( 4- 2).

Vick — playing in place of injured Ben Roethlisberger — left with a hamstring injury in the third quarter, and the Steelers’ offense took off when Jones took over. Jones and Bryant connected on an eight- yard touchdown pass to give the Steelers the lead, and the two later hooked up for an 88- yard scoring strike.

Jets 34, Redskins 20

Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for two touchdowns— including a 35- yarder to former Bears receiver Brandon Marshall— and ran for a third, Chris Ivory rushed for 146 yards and another score and the New York Jets ( 4- 1) rallied from a 13- 10 halftime deficit to top the visiting Washington Redskins ( 2- 4).

Vikings 16, Chiefs 10

Teddy Bridgewater passed for 249 yards and a touchdown to overcome two interceptions, Blair Walsh kicked three field goals and the host Minnesota Vikings ( 3- 2) did just enough to slip past the Kansas City Chiefs ( 1- 5).
