Gallo, Helen O. “Haita”

(nee Jenkot) 87, of Peru, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside with Deacon Joseph Siranovic officiatin­g. Those attending should gather at the cemetery office for further guidance. Arrangemen­ts are entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home in Peru.

Mrs. Gallo was born May 3, 1926 in Chicago to Joseph and Eva (Dubinski) Jenkot. She married Frank Gallo in 1948 in Chicago.

She was a member of the Peru Chapter of the Red Hatters. She enjoyed reading, especially westerns, traveling and going to gambling boats. She lived for her children and grandchild­ren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include one son, Alan (Susan) Rosenfeld of Deerfield and their children, Jayne (Peter) Mangione of Highland Park and Jimmy (fiancée Anna) Rosenfeld of San Francisco, CA; one daughter, Eva Gallo of Peru and her daughter, April Danihel of Peru; one daughter-in-law, Madeline Gallo of Tinley Park and her children, Brian Gallo of Tinley Park and Bill (Kelly) Gallo of Chicago; three great-grandchild­ren, Jillian, Pete and Jimmy and extended family, Sharon Hand of Peru and Shelly Gould of Sheboygan, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank on July 19, 1966; one son, James Joseph Gallo in October 1996; five brothers, Earl, John, Casey, George and Henry Jenkot and her fond companion, Jerome Rudelinger.
